Quad-core tablets this year says Nvidia CEO

mmm seems like over kill to me...quad core in a smartphone

On a phone Dualcore is already overkill for me. I am still on DHD and have not found a single app that makes me wish I had more CPU power.

On the tablets its a different story, I wish my Transformer had a quad in it sometimes, but then again my problem is more the lack of decent GPU power, running Live Wallpapers at 1080p with all my widgets active tends to make it stutter at times. When I turn off Live wallpaper everything is fine.

On a smartphone yeah, I can see it being over kill. I mean, if you think about it, you just want your phone to email, sms, call, run a few mobile apps like whatsapp, and that's pretty much it.

However, a tablet is a different story. I read that windows 8 will be able to run on ARM processors, which means Nvidia's tegra 3 tablets will be ideal for that application. I'm thinking of buying a tablet for media and productivity purposes. I need something to take digital notes, and also be an pdf reader, especially when I'm programming on the laptop at uni, and I need the datasheet open for the microprocessor I'm programming.

Also, 4 cores means that the tablet can do more, so you need not carry your laptop around...
