I got the e-mail to BETA test it, signed up etc and played a bit of it.

It's a browser version, from what I've read, the game will ultimately be FREE as a THANK YOU from ID SOFTWARE.

www.quakelive.com is a good place to start.

The BETA is out as of last night.
I didn't see any sort of advertising in the game but I only played for like 30 minutes.

I thought they were pioneering the idea of free gaming, with advertising?

maybe everyone will playing normally and then id Software flips a switch and everyone has to watch a fireworks show sponsored by coca cola, followed by a Burger eating contest?

Basically, it says (I've read it) that you should give it a shot if you loved Quake 3 or are a Quake fan!

No... I never / don't love Quake (any of them) but I don't even know how I got the invite... but I tried it anyways.

Besides, it's a free game, who ever says NO to a free game?

That's because it's basically a FREE "ONLINE" version of Quake 3 (engine and all)

I know ....... I just wish they had used one of the other Quakes.

I think they used the "3" engine because most if not all PC's can play it now (graphics cards etc) without any problems.

"4" might be a problem... The idea would be to get as much of an audience as possible.
