Qualcomm unveils next-generation Snapdragon 835 CPU

My 2.5 year old Snapdragon 801 in my OnePlus One is still amazing. I find it odd that we aren't using the now supremely powerful cellphones as home gaming consoles by now, with a little dock or something. Sure, you can hack a solution together, but it's pretty janky.

At least Nintendo realises what is possible with their upcoming Switch console.

Continuum is not very good at all, and in any case, I don't see a solution like that working for many years. The only desktop experiences I would want are full Windows 10 (not Continuum), macOS or Linux. But Windows and Linux suck hard on mobile. Seems like the only company that can pull this off without too much effort is Apple, as both iOS and macOS are decent.

A device that acts as a phone and desktop PC has little value to me, as it's solving a problem I've never had. I'd much rather have a phone that can act as an awesome home gaming console and portable gaming console. Android could easily pull off a quality experience like this with some determination from Google. And Nintendo might be onto something awesome if the Switch is powerful enough to roll with the XB1 and PS4.

What type of games? The android one I linked would allow you to play any games that can run on the phone. (At least angry birds works, lol)

It's sad to see that the dominance of Qualcomm persists in this market. Dunno what happened to Nvidia , and Intel was just ****e!! I hope Mediatek continues to improve and challenges for top spot soon

Why? The technology is slowly going there, enterprise is pushing it.
I'd like to imagine this https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/HP-Elite-x3-Lap-Dock/productID.5069318900 but just as a tablet screen basically powered by a phone when you need it.
If Intel actually brought out their mobile chips, we'd have Win32 apps on mobile devices already.
