Which is the more reliable brand, the reviews on Takealot are good but I cannot find many reviews elsewhere. Both require neutral wires, and both look like they fit SA switches.

Qualitel or Sonoff smart light switches

I have a few Qualitel 1, 2 and 3 gang switches. The 1 and 2 gang models have a TYWE3S chip that's flashable, the 3 gang has a WB3S that's not flashable.
I bought them at the same time, not sure if the new ones all have WB3S now.

Thanks chickenbeef, are you happy with them, are you using them with Alexa or Google Assistant? Do I need to flash them, is that just to get it to work with different apps apart from Smartlife?

I am happy with them. I am using it with Home Assistant which is integrated with Google Assistant. Not sure about Smartlife.

I've got sonoff's through out the house. Over the past couple of years one has needed replacing.
Speaking from first hand experience they're compatible out of the box with Alexa.

Our house is also filled with Sonoff's, both flashed (Tasmota) and stock standard. Haven't had an issue at all. Both flashed and stock switches are integrated with HA and GA, no issues.

Thanks, I installed two 1-gang switches and one 2-gang switch (Qualitel), I added them to the Smartlife app and they integrated with Alexa and Google Assistant seamlessly. They do make a bit of a "clunk" noise when turning on and off though.

I have 2 and 3 gang Sonoff switches with dead standard firmware, working well for the past year. I have all IOT separated on my network.

Do the Sonoff switches make a clicking sound when you turn them on or off?

Yes they all have relays in.
Generally still more quiet than the very loud clicks from manual switches.

I've found the circuit breaker to be the loudest of the lot.

When switches are off you can choose to have them be backlit with a blue light or not backlit at all

Have not tried the Sonoff's yet. I have only installed 3 Qualitel switches so far, I like the look and feel of them, I prefer the glass panel in front to the ones that are plastic. The ease of integration with Smartlife to Alexa and Google Assistant is also a plus. I have just bought Qualitel switches for all the remaining light switches in my house.
My pics still show the switches with the protective plastic sheet on the front, will remove once I have tidied up around the switch with PaintersMate

Yes they are. In the eWelink app you have the option to turn off the wifi indicator. I don't know if you can do this in HA as well.

I found "frames" for the Sonoffs (3D printed); not sure if you get those for the Qualitel switches too. It takes the effort out of finishing off the area around the switch.

Sonoff Sonoff Tuya
I have Sonoff throughout the house, I went with the RF variation and the wireless switches. Best thing ever as suddenly I can have switches wherever I want them, all old switch boxes are now just covered or has been turned into wifi aps. Sonoff works with Google out of the box. Journey started 4 years ago and only one had to be re added onto wifi after load shedding, very reliable.
