None of our doors have this lip. :-( I think you are talking about this one.

LOL. Home workouts are mahala and fun. I lost about 4kg weight since 1 Jan. Granted that it is easier at my bodyweight but I found it encouraging so far. Couldn't hold on to pull-up bar when I started but now 20 seconds x 3 reps every day. I will get there eventually.get your fat a$$ to gym instead of trying home workouts

I should have mentioned this in original post. So, I have a proper pull up bar which is mounted between two walls. That is solid and it is at a height of about 2.18m and I can reach to it easily for my dead hangs. It also has rings+straps attached to it for me and small handles with another strap for my son as well.@surface why dont you get a real pull up bar which you can mount somewhere against a wall like in the garage?
from an ex gym instructor ,dont do it ,you cant train properly with them unless you a 100kg midget .are you selling tickets for the opening session if you do get one.nah there are loads of exercises you can do easily without a door frame and pulling 100kg up isnt one of them, dont get me wrong ,pull up bars are great ,many different excercises and experiences can be had with them, but you need space and height. you must be able to stretch and move easily while using it .get one that bolts to the wall but run threaded bar right through the wall with big washers and nuts on both sides .mount it above a door frame so you cant run up the wall to cheat ,you need space and an open doorway gives you that .
Hang onto the pull up bar, grab a broom stick behind your knees and squeeze your core super hard and let your son do pull ups on the broom stick. That way, you guys spend time together, bond, you exercise your core and grip strength and he becomes Mini Hulk or Mini Tumeric.I should have mentioned this in original post. My idea was to have a no drill pull-up bar that he can use at his height but at the same time, I wanted something that is useful to me for inverted rows and some such variations.
But considering I can do inverted rows with rings., my current setup seems enough to me and there is no need to spend R500 to get another of same really even if it offers a bit of flexibility in terms of height.
Thanks for all the feedback guys, really appreciated.

Yeah sure that would work, use 4mm screws, no need for plugs, screws are big enough.Sorry but I will reuse the thread for another door mount pull up bar rant. I have something like this that I found in my garage but I lost the side rubbers which are supposed to push them against sides -

This is also supposed to be no drill pull up bar but considering all the fun we all had imagining my spectacular fall in every which way, I plan to use some structure like this (but much stronger wood) at 2 different heights so 4 such brackets. I will see if I can find metal brackets but it doesn't seem likely.

A V shape for the morning spot is easier to diy neatly. You could also run a full length of timber from the floor to the bar height.Sorry but I will reuse the thread for another door mount pull up bar rant. Remember back in the day when I got this the first time, felt so cool to have that different narrow grip to try out, until I realised that I sucked at pull ups and could only do 2 reps at a time.None of our doors have this lip. :-( I think you are talking about this one.

Dude, I can only do 20 second dead hangs (3 reps) as of now. I will be over the moon when I do 2 reps.Remember back in the day when I got this the first time, felt so cool to have that different narrow grip to try out, until I realised that I sucked at pull ups and could only do 2 reps at a time.
