Why put that bar in the door when you can put it between stands on the floor?
Then you can do this!

I tried this and I can already do it.

you are well within your rights to return if not happy with a product... dont feel bad about it.Flip it - I will just buy it and then return it to sportsmans warehouse if it doesn't fit. I usually don't like to do returns as all our returns have indirect cost to consumer later on.
This is the correct take. You want the thing to be absolutely rock solid such that you don't have to think about it moving if you do use it.I am not a fan of these "doorway" gym bars. They are okay, I guess. I have one, and it has taken a weight of up 110kg. The problem really, is that it sits in your door frame, meaning that you need to be either a dwarf or a halfling for getting the most out of it. Motion is important when it comes to both pull-ups and chin-ups.
When it comes to its sturdiness, just know that it bites into your wall. It will take paint and whatnot off in time. Also, make sure that you install it level, or otherwise it will slide.
In my opinion, nominate a wall, and install a wall-mounted bar. A little bit more or a lot more depending on your budget, but you will get a lot more in return. That is if you are actually going to use it.
Most people I know who have home gyms of any sort. Gave up on it. It just becomes a room which shows that you are too lazy to do anything about your health.
LOL. He is 6.@surface
For a moment I thought you helped your son install a barricade for his door, just in time for V-Day, to fend off the hordes of girls who want to barge their way in to check out his muscles.
LOL. He is 6.But, it seems he has heard of 6 pack (probably some of his school friends have it, mainly by genetics is my guess), now that is what he wants to have. Flip - I couldn't even tie my shoelaces by 6 and these kids are way too advanced for me.
I agree. I try to dead hang 20 seconds for 3 reps every other day, if not every day. With my obesity, it is tough but I hope to get to 1 minute within 6 months. It is important for children to develop grip strength. Even adults can do with a jungle gym or the sorts.
