I am sure someone here knowledgeable about the car scene could help me out here. Say I've got a 2004 BMW 320d E46, good condition with 156,000km's on the clock. Settlement amount is R50,000. I want to trade it for a car to the value of R125,000. Anyone know what kind of deposit I am looking at with this trade? And what the monthly installments on financed part of the amount would be more or less at about prime+2?

You might get R70k tradein on your vehicle (i'm assuming of course so I could be very wrong)

Why not use those websites that you pay like R25 for an indicative market value of your car? AFAIK I think transunion runs one?

I'm just looking for a ballpark figure. I refuse to pay to find out the value of my car.

I had gone through the posts. According to my knowledge, There is not much difference between trading in the old car at a loss and having the dealer finance a new car without a trade in. Could you please produce some more attachments about the topic for view detail information.

Your post makes no sense and links to USA sites are not likely to be of benefit to the OP from Cape town.

I just had a look at their site - R10 for a report...but...they want email/phone/ID/address etc. etc. etc. So very obvious that it is a data mining exercise. Definitely not spending 10 bucks to get properly spammed afterwards... :(

BMW 320D (E46) F/L 6SP 2004

Retail 84800
Trade 71500

BMW 320D (E46) F/L AUTO 2004

Retail 94000
Trade 75300

Book value doesn't mean much. Check about 10 similar vehicles on Gumtree and take the average?

Doesnt work that way, the car dealers will take the book value as a "base" then add or subtract based on the condition of your car including mileage.

They pretty much all subtract nowadays, for the warranties and stuff they have to hold now thanks to the CPA

That site is beyond bonkers with its valuations....

Its valued my car at R185k when i KNOW the book is about R80k.

Your 2011 HYUNDAI i10 1.2 GLS AT with a mileage of 10000km has an estimated book value of:

R119,783

The estimated trade in value of your car is between:
R96,725 - R106,906

The estimated retail value of your car is:
R130,863 - R144,638

Something isn't right because: The Recommended Retail Price New is R124900.
