There is a slot in the battery compartment that is for a "sim"
I put in a sim, but nothing happens, not sure if this model comes with that feature but then why have the sim slot?
Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

There where 2 versions one with the slot working the other without, me guess you have the one where it was not activated (like I did)

:( anyway to check?

Download HP Connection Manager

you'll need to switch it on for it in order to work (if it really is installed).

We got a couple of those babies here. The software allows you to switch the hardware "on" or "off"...

Marine1, the slot is a standard of the body when they make the unit. However, it doesn't mean there is actually a 3G modem behind it - best thing to do, look up your exact model on the web and check if it came with 3G. Should be some number like XX111AA or similar to that.

Hey guys thanks for info, I have looked underneath and there also says on a sticker:

hp lc2010_mobile_broadband module with an IMEI number
This is very strange, if it was not in the unit how would it have an IMEI number?

These are my details:
XX957EA#ACQ

This is in my assistant on the notebook

Strange that the sticker says the module is a lc2010 yet your system says it is a hs2340.

Bottom line is that you should be able to use your SIM in your notebook! Check drivers and that it is activated (control panel settings). Also remember that you cannot use your 3G while connected via a LAN cable (certain models allowed it but rather unplug the cable).

On the Probook 4530s models that I worked on there was a button on the top-right (there should be two together) to enable wireless connections. Make sure the light is blue. Also on the previous 45xxs there was also a button in the front of the laptop or around the corner on the left. HP might have moved it there when they made a new revision.

Lastly, HP's Connection Manager allows you to click and disable the radios separately. You'll definitely have it installed so it might just be disabled. Also check in Computer Management to see if it isn't disabled in there. If its not disabled and does register then all that's left is faulty drivers or faulty hardware.

Also, can you take a picture of your keyboard? ACQ is the code for any of HP's products sold in Russia, which is a bit weird. Yours might have been stock that HP swapped around when they were doing their product refresh. SA products normally have EAQ at the end.

Incorrect. Might have been the old code, by ACQ is SA localisation. No EAQ localisation. Perhaps on consumer good the EAQ applies, but probook 4530s is commercial.

Really? Weird, all the ones I used to work with were set out with EAQ. Did they change the system in the last year? I've been looking on Google and ACQ always gives me models for Russian sites only
