So Im just wondering if 200ish ping is normal for daytime local gaming? Im on Uncapped With mweb 384.

Depends on which game your playing. If its Battlefield Bad Company 2, then I'd say its normal. If its anything else, then there is something majorly wrong somewhere.

Its Quake Live .:-/

*Tx 4 da fast reply*
Its weird tho cause im not downloading or doing anything else at the time i try to play...Q_Q

I've been play ModernWarfare2 on local servers for a couple of days and 200'ish seems the norm for me too... This is on a 1mb, uncapped line. My 512 5G account was definitely better for games. I had way less latency back then... *sigh

~200ping is what most local servers have been getting from an MWEB account the past 2-3weeks. It used to be around 30-50 in daytime and 10-30 at night , but they broke something and now your stuck with ~200-600 depending on how lucky you are.

You will also notice its very unpredictable , spiking a lot and even timing out.

How do you play Quake Live on local servers, I would like to check it out but don't wanna suffer through the international pings.

When u @ the lobby ( Right after u log in) theres a customize tab to set what regions you see. Just say in your vicinity I think

I've noticed this too. I can play at 5pm and have a good response, then by 8:30 the ping has trebled. By 10pm it returns to normal again. We were also having HUGE ping spikes, but lately these have subsided. When Mweb are not playing with the ping, they reduce the speed so we don't notice.

Sigh, this is unnacceptable, havent played anything for about a month, but personally games require you to do nothing while playing + use very little bandwidth.

Therefore gaming traffic should be a priority

That I agree 100% with but you see the thing with shaping is, game traffic is regarded as P2P traffic aswell, which they regard as torrents too.

I've been getting 30-50ms on all my online games with an Mweb 4mb uncapped account.

That should be 10ms on Telkom or better.

10ms? I know its been a while since my Do3 days but I am sure that was consistently in the 30s. So they've improved their network by some 66%?
