Hello,

ProASM, I am hoping you can help me out here by answering a question or two.

My situation is that I have two computers, and need two modems (the reasons for not sharing are not really relevant here) shared on a single account - one of them is a pcmcia modem and one of them is a usb modem.

One of the modems, the USB modem, will be arriving as soon as our contract is approved (ie, this is the bundled one).

I now need to purchase a PCMCIA modem within the next week or so. Unfortunately it must be during this time, as my holiday ends on Friday, and once back into the work routine it is unlikely that will be time to go and buy this modem as I am extremely busy during the day.

Due to a variety of conflicting information regarding the mywireless system and specifically the PCMCIA, I'd like to at least plug the modem into my computer and connect to make sure that it is going to work before forking out R 3990 (incl VAT). I have spoken to a friend who already has his mywireless up and running (USB), and he agreed to disconnect his system for a few minutes to allow me to use his username and password ONCE to make sure that the modem works in my pc, then disconnect and he then resumes his connection.

What I'd like to know is, will this "lock" my PCMCIA modem to only be able to connect with his account name? I don't want that, as I will obviously have a different account name when my own contract is approved, and further than a once off connection to make sure it will work, my modem will have no association with his account.

The final situation must be that I can connect to my own account using the USB modem that gets delivered to me, and then when that modem is disconnected, to be able to connect to my own account using my other PCMCIA modem.

Thanking you in advance!

Everytime you logon to the system the software sends the Username and Password to the modem so you can put in there what you like.
I have 3 Usernames and Passwords, one set for each 128k, 256k and 512k and I use whichever I want to test with at the time.

This is something people must be carefull of when testing someone elses modem or a friends modem and you use your Username and Password, the modem stores that so when the guy gets home your Username and Password is still in the modem and can very easily be read.

The best when testing is use MySignal and after you done, put a Username of "username" and a password of "password" and then connect - it will tell you "Incorrect Username or Password" and disconnect, in that way you are safe.
