Okay I currently have 2 gig of RAM:

Now I'm thinking of getting some more... Should I get another set of the above (Which I have already) or should I just get:
http://www.landmarkpc.co.za/store/c...800d2-240pin-ddr2-sdram-ddr2-1066-p-2828.html

They cost the same, but it's 2 and 4 gig... Obviously there is a quality difference... BUT Would 4 gig of the value RAM not be better than the 2 gig of GOOD ram?

So I'll have 6 gig, 2 gig would be good ram and 4 gig would be value ram... Or should I just go 4 gig with Good RAM?

More is better? If all the ram is the same speed you probably wouldn't notice the difference between good ram and value ram

If you're not overclocking and trying to break world overclocking scores, get no name brand/generic ram. You won't notice the difference.

More cheap RAM will usually give better overall system performance than less faster/better quality RAM; and then only if your system is running out of RAM and negatively impacting performance.

To tell if you actually need more RAM in the first place, and how much RAM you need, check your task manager after an average day of usage (windows XP). Under the performance tab, in the block labeled "commit charge", there is a value for "Peak". This is the highest total memory that has been allocated by your system (Virtual and Physical). If that number is less than your total physical RAM, then you can assume that a RAM upgrade will not improve performance. If the value is more than your physical RAM, then buy enough so that your Physical RAM is higher than the peak (a few hundred MB higher or so higher will do, buying RAM so that you have 2GB unused will just be a waste).

I would recommend using the same brand and speed of ram in your box. And like the other posts say: more is better and you will definitely not notice a huge difference with brand ram and other ram. Just brand ram offers you the chance of getting it easier if the memory burns out.

Hope you enjoyed my 2 cents worse :)

Im using Win 7 cant see anything like that... I do see that only 256 is free, the other is reserved already... Think I might go with the value ram... 6 gig seems better than 4 gig, and you can never have to much? Or should I just go with 4 gig of the same ram ;)

I never knew that and actually understood it.
Great post - thanks :)
