Question regarding ADSL and bandwidth

Need some advice, I have a 4mb ADSL and get my bandwidth from Openweb or Axxess.

Do broadband 3 is R554-00 this is without line rental right?
That amount gives you 3GB intl. and 30 local.

If you just have an ADSL line, 4MB it is R413.00.
So basically for R141-00 you are getting 3GB intl and 30 GB local.

Is that correct? How can it not then pay you to take a "do broadband" package?

Nope...line rental for a 4MB line is roughly R500...on its own, without the Do Broadband or anything.

The R554 'do broadband 3' is a 3GB package with a 4MB line, shaped. Excl VAT.
The fine print also says -
"Excludes line rental, voice and fax call charges.
The local bandwidth applies after the initial 3GB data has reached its limit."

So if you want the DoBroadband 3, you'll pay R554 + R120 line rental (Not ADSL line, only Analogue) = R674 per month.

Really not worth it... :(

If you want another provider WebAfrica does DSLComplete https://www.webafrica.co.za/adsl/complete/

They offer it for R579 per month but have 24 hour support, the best in the country, and if your ADSL goes down they handle the telkom issue for you...

What?? You're contradicting yourself. As far as I understand the line rental portion that isn't included is the voice part of the line. Do3 would be around R140 for your voice line plus R554+vat for your adsl...

Marine1 the "bundle" packages from telkom or any other ISP are generally a bit cheaper overall than getting the line and bandwidth seperately. Of course you can always get one of those packages eg Do3 and then more bandwidth elsewhere on top of that.

Without Telkom Do3:
Telkom Analogue Line = R140 p/m
Telkom 4MB ADSL Portion = R413 p/m
3GB ADSL data = Roughly R150 from any ISP
Total of roughly R703.00
EX VAT

With Telkom Do3:
Telkom Analogue Line: R140
Telkom 4MB ADSL Portion: Part of fee
3GB ADSL Data: Part of fee

Fee R554 p/m
Add R140
Total = R694
EX VAT

I dont see much of a saving there...

Or did i calculate wrong champ?

What about the 30gig local? That is not included in the option without DO3

I love what you're smoking dude. The cheapest 3GB you'll get is R179. If you find it cheaper they're lying to you. So I'd say ROUGHLY about R30 more than you quoted there
 
With 15 gigs of int who needs local !

Saix internet is faster in terms of latency, so if that is what you want then it is the right deal for you.
