Hey,

If I sell my COD4 and COD5 which I played online with, how can the other person play it. Will they have to just use my details? Is the cd-key tied to a specific machine?

Is this possible or will the person only be able to play the SP?

Thanks,

They will install the game, use the CD key on the box, and play. The servers verify the CD key.

But will they be able to set up a new user account. Is the cd-key not tied to the original user account?

Every time you play online, Punkbuster searches the IW servers, and determines if the key is in use.
If you are playing online, and the person you sold it to, tries to join an online game, it will say "Key code in use", and wont allow him to play MP.

In COD5 it is the same.

In MW2, the key is assigned to your Steam account, and you will also not be allowed to have the same key in use.

The SP does not have this function as far as i know.

Hope this helps...

All they basically need it the CD key. I have a copied CoD4 but I brought the game online so I could play multiplayer and all I did was enter the cd-key, no re-install needed.

Don't sell the guy band account. he will never be able to play on SGS and SAIX :p lol

If you are planning on never using those keys again to play online then it would work just fine. Unless they are tied to your steam account.

So if I never play again the dude could play online?

Correct but if you sell the game you should not have the means to play with the same key otherwise IW will cancel the key and your friend that you sold the game will not be able to play.

Selling games like these are based on trust, that you did not get banned on that key from any server and that you wont use that key again after you sold the game to him.

Basically if you sell the game you actually sell the Cd key to him.
