Hi all,

As 'some of you' might know.
I hate World of Warcraft, I hate it, because, well, everyone else I know who has it, played it etc, hates it - so I'm being a lemming!

Okay!

I bought the WoW Battle Chest last week, still sealed EU version.
I've put it on my shelf and don't plan to open it anytime soon.

But, my question (finally!) does the package expire at any point?
I don't think so, but I just had to ask.

why aren't you playing you nub.

No it doesn't expire..

It beckons you gdiza

To be honest

you get to a point in wow where it's just not that much fun anymore. Just sort of a habit. I have now Yesterday gone and bought myself BF2 just to get a taste of something else for a change :o :D

gdiza, you can't hear Blizzard's siren calling out to you, urging you to hand over your soul to it

As pitbull says, wow can get boring....all of us have felt bored of wow once or twice since we started. Trying new aspects to the game (rerolling, respeccing) does change your perspective.

To answer your question, It doesn't expire

PS Since your not gonna play it... wtb the accound key :p

I actually mis playing WoW. Haven't been able to "really" play forabout two years now. First problem was that I moved and had to wait for ADSL installation, trying to play on 3G is not the experience I was looking for, so I left that after a while. Then just before my ADSL was installed I gave my PC to my church :P Now I only have a laptop at home and once again it is not a pleasureable playing experience. Saving up to get a decent PC again now at some stage in the future, hopefully before WotLK, so that I can enjoy this great game again

I don't have an addictive personality people!

You see, I know I won't like it, I only bought it because "i just wanted to own it"

I know, if I open it, I'll play it a few times and then the thing will expire (you get a month) and then I'll have to buy another R299 card to play... stuff that.

Really, I'd rather play COD4 :) or BF2 :) or ... NFS: Carbon :)

Then go and play it till it expires! Or install it and play on a trial account for a few days. Atleast then you can add to just owning the game that you have played it.
The trial account idea will let you keep your 30 day free on the box.

WOW does get boring after awhile but after u have not played it for awhile it starts calling ur name.. Ok i got a question to ask u gdiza.. y waste the money on buyin it if u not goin to play it...i was the same didnt want to play it but whne i did i enjoyed it. u might to :D

gdiza - i think you should use the 10 day trial account and test it yourself before making opinions about the game :)

I once thought the same thing, then i played it till level 70... then got slightly bored, because it requires alot of your time at that point.
Wanted to play again beginning of this year, bought about 3 months game time, then got into a relationship, its not wasting away and im itching to play... alas, maybe when im single again.

Having a balance between BF2 and wow is quite fun, dont forget CoD4..

Hey, nothing lasts forever, but WoW has probably had the longest lifespan in my gaming repertoire I can remember. It's been a long, long time since i played 1 game for 2 years. Last ones like that were SC, Q3 and CS (not source). Everything dies eventually, it's natural to get tired/bored and try something else.
For now, though, I'm still pretty hooked, while waiting for something bigger and better.

Like starcraft or diablo online :P Blizzard remains the best gaming company by a huge margin in my books.

Starcraft2 might hook me back onto online/LAN RTs play. Might.
Otherwise it's Warhammer Online baybee. At leas tuntil World of Starcraft, at which point I will in all likelihood sell my soul, once and for all, to Blizzard.

The last 2 nights i logged on, started doing dailies, just didn't feel like doing it, logged off. Wednesday's Kara was lethargic, people who've been farming it screwed up, including me. Think i'll have to start doing 25mans again or its all over. It's difficult to leave a mmo though, all that time invested in building up your character/s.

BF 2 i use to play it ALOT online when i was in UK would not dare to try it on our sa lag.Wow can get
boring specially if you dont lvl alts too.

Well i am the kinda guy that finished fallout (1)2 like 20 times and baldurs gate like 10 time 1 and 2.And played all the Final Fantasy games and loved Front Misoin 3.So far wow was the most time consuming.

Wow one major appeal is playing it with others and pvp servers can be anoying like yesterday on island geting ganked by full vengfull geared party.
But ill never roll on pve.

Well i started lvling alts while i opened a lvling guild last lvling guild i made was fun learned alot from it now this time around i am doing it rigth.

Other way to pas time is form raid with bunch off random stangers and storm towns.

Hehe, I played Everquest for 5 years ..... :o

As to the game getting boring. It does after a year or two. Thing is I got into raiding then took a new job (Thanks to Tito and the blokes down at the reserve bank) and now that I am away for a month at a time I come back to find that I am bored as I have stopped raiding. I don't play FPS games much (yeah, cause I suck at them and they make me car sick).

So now I just putter around in WoW whilst waiting for a new MMO to replace WoW.

I played Everquest for a few years on Stromm server but eventually decided to quit. It's difficult to stop after all the time you invested in your characters but in the end I just wasn't having fun anymore. The last year or so I was only logging on to raid with the only motivation being getting better items and the very occasional bit of progression .When I started playing WoW I decided I will only do it to have fun and quit the second it feels like work :)

I don't doubt that burnout happens to raiders. Agree that if you don't enjoy it, you should stop. But there are many that do enjoy it, and theres no reason they should have to consider their passion *wrong*. Not until such time as they, themselves, tire of it.

I I get tired of the whole raiding thing, I'll do something else. Thankfully there's always something else to do. That's the beauty of WoW. It's not like other MMO's where once you get to 'the end' the only recourse is to raid.

I think i'm gonna stop dailies as soon as sunwell is complete, though the temptation of money is great :)
In anticipation of raiding again i'm gonna work on some resistance gear. Gonna spend my hard-earned badges on the fire res set, and i'm halfway through crafting arcane res gear. As a rogue, i'm not exactly on the top of the healers lists, so resistance items are more important for my class. Of course, crafting or buying these items is not the end of it. It's enchants and gems to go into the new pieces, glyphs etc. Damn, i'll have to do more dailies, lol.
