I've got a question.
My friend tells me that the core to quad is just to core to duo in one chip and the phenom is 4 single cores in one chip, is that true?
 
No, a core 2 quad is 2x dual cores, not 2x core 2 duos because that would have been the same as saying it is 4x single cores. The phenoms are 4x single cores if you can call it that
