Hi Guys.

Please tell me what the temps for the following should be on idle:

Q6600:
-CPU: +-58c
-4 Cores: +-34c

320GB Sata2 Hard Drive: +-39c

XFX 8800GTS 640MB Std: +-82c

System: +-47c

Auxiliary (Not sure what this is): +-119c

-----------------------------------------------------------
These are my temps on 100% CPU use using OCCT:

Q6600:
-CPU: +-72c
-4 Cores: +-51c

320GB Sata2 Hard Drive: +-39c

XFX 8800GTS 640MB Std: +-82c

System: +-50c

Auxiliary (Not sure what this is): +-119c

These temps are all as per speed fan. My case is currently open until I get my new Aerocool Extreme Engine 3T.
Besides getting a new case with a 25cm side fan and 14cm front fan ... what else should I get?
I was thinking of getting a good CPU cooler so I can overclock a bit (But not watercooling ... Don't have the space ... and don't trust it :P ) ... which one should I get.

Also, what are the maximum temps before you cook your components and what are good temps for longevity?

What program can I use to stress test the Gfx card?

Thanks

Itai

Aux is PSU afaik. And usually has mad temps. No idea why.

I'd be a bit concerned about the XFX idling at 82. A few hours of gaming could push that uncomfortably high.

But what do I do about the gfx temp if it doesn't drop even after I've purchased the new case ... should I take it in for repairs or ask for a swap out ... who knows ... if they don't have stock, maybe I can get a 8800GT :)

The official specs allow for up to 140 degrees celsius so unless the card is causing artifacts or any other type of problems there is no way they'll swap it out.

The only coolers out there that I support are Thermalright and Zalman, in that order, I have experience with both and both are superb, Thermalright also happens to make the best CPU cooler available at the moment.

As a reference my temps are usually as follows:

CPU: Amd 6000+ AM2 with a Zalman 9500 AM2 lowest fan speed setting (1800rpm).
Idle: +-30 degrees
Load: +-40 degrees

GPU: Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB with a Thermalright HR-03 lowest fan speed on a 92mm Enermax fan. Overclocked to: 350mhz Core, 900mhz Memory
Idle: +- 40 degrees
Load: +- 54 degrees

HD's: All Western Digital Drives, Ranges from 40 degrees to 47degrees

Motherboard: Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wifi Edition with 3 12mm case fans (@800rpm)
Idle: 44 degrees
Load: 52 degrees

If I put a new cooler on the GFX Card ... will it not void the warranty. Do you know which supplier (dealer ... not retailer) deals with Thermalright?

Do you think its a good idea to get the Aerocool Extreme Engine 3T as a case for good cooling ... cause it will have a huge fan and a smaller, but still big fan ... plus should be fairly quite.

Also ... would you put any other fans in the case ... whats better ... more fans blowing air, or more fans sucking air ... especially for dust?

Depends on the manufacturer, almost all of them will void the warranty which is why you keep the old cooler and put it back on when you return it and never mention you took it off. Manufacturers like eVGA provide Lifetime warranty even when you overclock/replace stock cooler.

Can't say, I haven't seen or used it, but my general rule of thumb for buying a case is as follows:

Plenty of room, good airflow, at least one front 120mm fan and at least one rear 120mm fan. Preferable has rails for IDE devices. Airflow is most important.

Also ... would you put any other fans in the case ... whats better ... more fans blowing air, or more fans sucking air ... especially for dust?

More blowing, positive pressure = less dust sucked into case, otherwise the fans suck air in through every opening available on the case and soon you have dust everywhere. But a too high positive pressure can cause similar issues so balance is important.

Well the Aerocool has a 25cm side fan and a 14cm front fan ... not sure about rear of case ... but I might just put a 120mm in.

How hard is it to change the stock cooler of a GFX card?

14cm, ie 140mm is fine ;) I just told you what I use as a frame of reference.

Very easy, just a few screws to remove or perhaps it was those snap in connectors, both easy to remove, basically if you have a Phillips head screw driver, a flat head screw driver and a pair of pliers you'll be able to remove any GPU cooler.

Frontosa said that 82c on idle isn't right and that if it is one of theirs, I should bring it in for testing.
