Hey all,

I've recently been looking into going onto telkoms uncapped 4 mb line.
I spoke to a salesperson and they were a bit discouraging about it.
I play online games and do download my fair share, according to the salesman
even 30 mins of gameplay will have me shaped as its seen as an 'abuse'
can anyone using this package please clarify to me the situation and how
much they are able to download a month before shaping starts taking effect.

Thanks in advance

**Schedule large downloads between 00:00 - 06:00 which does not count towards any shaping daily [your usage bar won't reach red in a short space of time] - should you reach a high limit due to continuous downloading after above hours then you will have to agree to their FUP [Fair Usage Policy] after which you will have your speed lowered until the next calender month begins.
** Gaming should be done after business hours. Depending on your region, you will need to hear from users with their experience aswell :p
** If you download between hours mentioned at 9GB/day then you looking at 270GB/month give or take. If you fall around that mark then you should be fine. These are guesstimates and should only be taken as a guideline from user feedback in the uncapped thread.

As for the rest refer to Yuu's post.

Everything you list above that the agent told you is total hogwash.

Gaming (gameplay, not downloads) is prioritised the same for all subscribers. In some cases gaming traffic is not identified correctly, in which case business uncapped and capped products will see a better experience. If you think this is the case, log a ticket (online, or support at telkomsa dot net) with the details, and we will try and get it fixed.

If you happened to note the agents name or if you have a reference number for the call, please PM the details so I can escalate this misinformation.

Isn't this info based on the letter Telkom sent to customers (well some customers) where they mentioned online gaming and torrents as discouraged activities?

Which games are affected?
