Quick, easy and healthy breakfast ideas - to replace cereal

What Animal Studies Tell Us
In male rats:

No matter the duration or degree of nutritional stress, a male rat’s brain chemistry responds with similar changes. Nocturnal activity and cognition stay fairly stable, regardless of the intensity of the fast. If you push the fast long enough, males will get a little wonky and frantic, but overall they maintain pretty well. It’s like they’re equipped with the ability to handle nutritional stressors.

In female rats:

Any degree of nutritional stress (fasting or mere caloric restriction) causes increased wakefulness (during the day, when they normally sleep), better cognition (for finding food), hyper alertness, and more energy. In short, female rats become better at finding and acquiring food when they fast, as if their bodies aren’t as well-equipped to deal with the stress of going without food. They also become less fertile, while the males actually become hornier and more fertile (probably to account for the females’ plummeting fertility). Ovary size drops (bad for fertility), adrenal gland size increases (which in rats indicates exposure to chronic stress), and menstrual cycles begin to dysregulate in proportion to the degree of caloric restriction.

One recent study found that placing young rats of both sexes on an intermittent fasting schedule had negative effects on fertility. While the male rats had lower testosterone, the female rats stopped ovulating, had trouble sleeping, and experienced ovary shrinkage.
So intermittent fasting can be used as a means of birth control?

For you - nothing. You don't need breakfast. The biggest lie you have ever been told is that you MUST eat 3 meals a day. Don't. Rather skip breakfast than eat something bad for you.

Your wife won't find it as easy to skip meals. I'd recommend unsweetened full fat greek yogurt, maybe with berries added. Or eggs.

Quick and easy way to do eggs - break two eggs into a bowl and stir using a fork. Add a pat of butter. Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds. Eat.
Charles R poliquin will slap your face.

Going mostly lactose free has shown me the only real benefits.

Also with my Crohn’s disease I wouldn’t risk skipping a meal now due to nutrition loss.

One man’s healthy is another man’s end.

You should read more into fasting, it definitely helps the digestive system (Longer fasting, not just skipping breakfast).

On topic:
Boiled eggs, scrambled eggs in the micro (yes this is actually really nice)
Natural yogurt + 1 fruit + nuts/homemade muesli.
Jungle oats (natural) + Honey + some seeds (chia, sunflower, pumpkin etc.)
Overnight oats - super delicious with banana + peanut butter

Another good option, make your own museli to go with the yoghurt:

You should read more about Crohn's Disease.

Oats are the devil and will see me shitting my guts out near instantly.

Even Muesli I only do about once a week because anything more regular would **** me up completely.

Only way around it is to put the oats in a smoothie which I also will only do about once a week, in reality even less frequently.

Fiber is the wonder everything thinks it is and actually ****s up a great many people who aren't aware what it's doing to them because fiber is mos healthy.

Fasting can't work for me because I'm already at a nutritional deficiency. I need to eat more meals more often, not less.

One cannot simply declare what is and isn't healthy to everyone unilaterally. It just doesn't work like that...although most people seem to think it does.

Im well aware of what Crohn's is... and the breakfast suggestions for the for the OP, as that is what the topic is about.

But fair enough, if you've given fasting a chance and it doesn't work, so be it, as you were.

Time is limited with both parents working so cereal is the default evil. Looking for quick and easy breakfasy ideas for weekdays to replace cereal. Can be pre-prepared but prefer ideas that can be done in 10min in the morning.

Get up 10 minutes earlier.

You can cook about any kind of breakfast you want in 20 minutes....................

I'm also simply highlighting that one man's healthy isn't applicable to another.

Don't think anything I put up as recommendation should be shot down as "unhealthy".

Thanks all. I do often skip breakfast but these ideas are for the little ones before schools.

Some interesting suggestions:
Overnite oats - first I heard of that.
Microwave scramble - will give it a try

Will try add some of the other ideas as well. Definitely want to get them off cereals.

I was a breakfast eater for 30 years, until one day I stopped eating breakfast. You get used to it quickly. Took me about 3 days.
It's interesting that if I skip breakfast I hardly think about food well into the afternoon, but if I eat breakfast I'm thinking about food at 11:00 again. Wake up, drink some water and I'm good to go.

The Microwave can be your friend if you use it properly and if worried about if it's safe.

Yeah, not surprising. It is all hormonal. Eating causes a spike and then a drop in insulin.

Often I fast the entire day, and I must say, the best feeling in the world is eating for the first time after a whole day of not eating. It's amazing.
