Ok, so not strictly VOIP, but I want the info for my new VOIP switchboard.

I'm setting up some DIY LCR on my switchboard (basically just routing all cellular calls over a Cell C line) and I was wondering what dialing rules to use.

So far I've got two set up:

07[1234689] and
08[1234]

Will these rules catch all mobile calls and only mobile calls, or are there numbers that don't conform? Those prefixes are just off my phone bill, so I don't know if, for example, 077 numbers are mobile, or some 081 numbers aren't, etc.

Thanks.

081 numbers are 8ta and should route cheaper via Telkom.

As far as I can tell, all mobile calls are billed at R 1,345/minute on Telkom. They're also per 1 minute/30 seconds, not per second like Cell C.

That 08xx rule will also catch 0800 numbers

Just a warning!

Not if he only enters 08[1234] for the cell c router.

Remember to add a rule for080;086;089 to route via Telkom.

I stand corrected, 8ta should route via cell c.

Hopefully the 08[1234] rule will exclude 080x and 086x numbers. It should, but I'm an amateur, so I'm holding thumbs.

I haven't set up that rule because everything that isn't mobile should route over Telkom anyway.

I'll see how things go tomorrow when the office opens again.

what switch are you using ?
are you using ip and analogue phones ?

some flavors of asterisk require you to add certain triggers typically "." or "X" or "!" after the rule

Hi there, just make sure that the Cell C package you are using is permitted for LCR use.

It's the 99c prepaid package. I'll see about a contract once I've given it a through test. What do you mean "permitted"? Is Cell C going to start whining?

It's a Hybrid Yeastar from Scoop. The routing is working, I was just wondering if it's set up correctly, or if for example, some 082 numbers should rather route over Telkom etc. because of... well I don't know why. That's why I'm asking.

That's a valuable list. Maybe it's well known in the PBX industry, but it would have taken me days to compile it.

But I don't need it right now since all mobile goes through Cell C rather than being split per operator.

What I do notice is that 075 and 077 that don't appear on my Telkom itemised bill belong to MTN. I'll add them. Thanks.

Anyway, I looked at my call logs today. Wow! A lot of calls are to mobile. I think even more than to fixed lines. This GSM card is going to pay itself off quicker than expected.

Nope, this package is fine for LCR.

WhichVoIP is correct, prepaid is suitable for LCR, Cell C being the cheapest out there @ 99 cents p/sec is the cheapest but you can achieve better call rates using VoIP, especially after the new interconnect rate cuts
