Hi guys,

Check this page: https://smartcomdirect.co.za/phone-deals/index.php

I see they have a Nokia 6300 for R75 per month.
I want to get this phone for my GF before she leaves for Germany next week Wednesday.

Do you think the phone will work in Germany?
I've asked Smartcom Direct but I just want some intelligent advice.

It's basically a present.

She'll be using a German sim card in the phone.

As long as it isnt network locked - and it shouldnt be - then it will work in Germany.

One extra thing to note,u need to know which signal band they're using in the country and if the phone supports it

The Nokia 6300 is Tri-band so it's not really going to be an issue.

Well I see the two versions of the phone are Tri-band with the european model sporting GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900

and
GSM frequency usage in Europe

In Europe most providers use 900MHz and 1800MHz bands. GSM-900 is most widely used. Fewer operators use DCS-1800 and GSM-1800. A dual-band 900/1800 phone is required to be compatible with almost all operators. At least GSM-900 band must be supported to be compatible with many operators.

So should be cool, just doublecheck with the provider she'll be using what band they use and check the phone

SOOOOOORRRRRRRRTED!!!!!! :)

Called Cellucity, told them about the Smartcom special, guy took a few minutes and came back with a special for me.

R89 per month.

It's R19 more than I wanted to pay, but at least I get the phone tonight. :D

I know my GF is going to be so happy - will make the extra amount worth it :)

How long is she going for?

She leave till end of the year - maybe a bit longer.

Maybe a short visit again in July.

But basically, leaves Wednesday and comes back either end of the year or early next year.
