Quit smoking

yeah its amazing because the actual inhaling of smoke and the taste of it is disgusting!!! and some of the guys here at work stink so much and im sure they dont even realise how bad it is.ive always wondered why they dont make cigarettes with some real decent flavas...i know hubbly is almost similar but thats effort.i rate if they introduced some strong flavoured cigs id puff a few a day. i just find the general taste of smoke nasty

For sure man, the taste is horrible as is the smell(not that i can smell it) yet i cannot farkin stop :(

The actual reason for me quiting has nothing to do with my health so to speak. More around the taste and smell I have when I'm not smoking.

Iused to smoke for MANY years but quit on the 13th June this year. I used ZYBAN for 6 weeks and have never had any cravings to smoke again.

You need a prescription from your GP for these tablets. Nicorette is not such a good idea.

Good luck Pitbull.

Congrats Mila.

And to the rest of you who managed to quit, I salute you.

One day I'll get it right as well.... :o

Had my last ciggie on the 20th of September.

I have never tried quitting before and was relucatant to give up the habit but my doctor warned me I have to quit. That same day I had my last ciggie and I have not thought about smoking again, but I do eat a lot more lately so I am just trying to balance that.

Been smoking since I was 16 and am 24 now.

This is prob around my 5th try or so. Lasts a few months then I go back to smoking :D

I thought this time round I'll try and document it. But I find it hard to even just suppress the cravings this time round hard to think of anything else but SMOKE

And I have only been off smokes since Friday. Nicorette is helping a little but it's making my teeth sensitive ...

I just love the smell of the wind though :o haven't been able to smell it it ages. It smells so good, that and the early morning air. That in itself is a good enough motivation but the constant battle in my mind is making me tired :(

Anyone else going through this now?

I dont know if it was the drug or the idea of spending so much money on it but I also successfully quit after using Zyban. It's not for everyone though.

After smoking for 25 years and having so many failed attempts at quitting behind me whatever it was that worked I'm grateful for it.

i enjoy it, been smoking since 16, 36 now. Just find in the last year i need more and more. Smoke when i wake up, smoke with the coffee, go to work, smoke outside get in car smoke, everything revolves around the next smoke. Don't even feel like a smoke but will have one. Im trying to break this habit of almost chain smoking preportions. In the old days i'd have maybe 5 smokes in a day, now its every half hour or less, getting quite sick of it. This thread has just made my will to cut down stronger and will try to enforce it tomorrow. But first a smoke and coffee then flippn bed, only time i dont smoke. argggggggggghhhhhhh.

Anybody experienced any side-effects using Zyban?

YES, I had huge side effects. Felt like I was stoned half the time, I broke out in welts all over my hands and feet, it wasn't pretty but at the end of the day it REALLY helped me quit. I don't regret it. But be very careful of Zyban, some people go moggy on it, my dad tried it and nearly put a few bullets in a taxi driver on Louis botha one day. Scary!

The electric cigarette from Twisp is claimed to work very well as a safe alternative to smoking cigarettes...

I've had 1 cigarette between March 29th 2006 and October 14th 2009...

My sister recently got one and seems pretty happy with it. Its quite an impressive device I must say.

Hell yeah, slept like crap and had the worst nightmares/panic attack!

Recently quit 3 months cold turkey. Slowly but surely the drink got to me. "Only when you have a drink" turned into almost full-time again. :o

It was my best effort so far though, I see light in the tunnel. You learn from every try. Will try again soon - before silly season is in full swing. :p

Good luck to all the quitters!

Yeah, I'm hoping my wife gets one. She really needs to quit but there has to be some commitment from the respondent to give up the habit. One cannot relay purely on aids.

Hehehehe. I went clubbing that same Friday I stopped smoking and everybody offered me a smoke, I left the club with a full packet and gave it to my mates :D

I am curious though when you went cold turkey for those 3 months did you experience any flu like symptoms ? I stopped about a month ago and since Monday I have had flu like symptoms, I have read that it can be a side effect of the nicotine when you quit smoking. Just hope this will be over soon.

Yip, when you quit cold turks thats how you tend to feel. The zyban I took basically took those symptoms away.
