Quitting Coffee =(

Regardless, it's better than the other vices people have. I limit myself to two cups daily because of arrythmia issues, but if I don't drink it my heart beats too slow (betablockers).

I wish I could be one of those people who chugs expressos every hour like it's nothing.

I came across an youtube video or article, about a year ago, about how it is to quit coffee. At the time, I was maybe over doing it. I'd drink like three cups in the morning, while getting dressed for work. Then 3 when I arrived at work. Then maybe another 5 during the day. But I'd never drink coffee after 3pm, evenings is for beer/whisky time.
So decided too challenge myself to quit for a month......didn't last 4 excruciating days. I'll rather get waterboarded for a whole day, than do that again. I was groggy, tired, headaches, etc. Only upside of this experience, was I slept like a baby.
4th morning I got up, I said "****it" and made a cup. At least I'm down to 1 cup while getting dressed and 2 cups at work. Maybe a third in the afternoon, before I leave for home. Won't over do it again.

FRESH POT!!!!!

I wondered why I felt so tired, irritated and brain fog when I had what I assume was Covid. Unfortunately I had a throat infection as well and couldn't drink coffee for at least 2-3 weeks.

I never want to experience that again and from this day forward.....

/makes another cup of coffee
8 years ago I survived an acute pancreatic attack that should have killed me. As the surgeon went through the list of things to stop eating and drinking like all alcohol, I interrupted him and said I will quiet anything but not my my coffee.

Turns out coffee is good for my pancreas and I only need to quit it for around a week after an attack.

Not having alcohol for 8 years was easy from the first day but going off my coffee for a week after each attack is still hell.

Anyway unlike the rest of you plebs I don't get withdrawal symptoms when go cold turkey with caffeine. If I do it's probably so mild that I don't notice them.

Coffee does wonders for me.

I'm on betablockers so I'm downclocked in terms of heart rate, but the morning coffee helps it get into a sane BPM for the day.

Don't become dehydrated though. Drink a good amount of water, which you should be doing anyway.

To avoid situations like this

I hope the irony wasn't lost on you.

Coffee (caffeine) doesn’t keep you awake.

It simply inhibits the chemical that tells your brain to go to bed.

You can quite happily have an espresso and immediately go to bed and sleep without an issue.

Also the people who claim decaf helps them sleep are full of kak as there is no such thing as caffeine-free coffee. It’s the equivalent of 2% milk.

I've just had one myself
