So I phone a dealership for a specific car part, and he gives me a price. Turns out it is without VAT. Why would they do that?

Yeah, don't know whey there are still places that advertise stuff excl vat. How many people still fall for it, thinking it cheap, going to pay for it and then deciding, o well its vat, I'll just pay for it even though you gave me the wrong price.

Esquire comes to mind immediately.

It's normal for companies to quote each other ex Vat as they claim it back.

I am talking about a major vehicle brand here. Certainly they don't only deal with other companies. I ordered a part after receiving the quote, only to be told on payment it was excluding vat, adding about R300 to the price. This annoys the living fck out of me.

Yeah, in your case they obviously were trying to make it sound cheaper.

We're replying to Ho3n3r regarding the Esquire VAT issue.
