I still have a bunch of ISDN modems lying around as well... USRobotics as well... not to mention the pile of dial-up modems :(

did you read the article even? they mention disposing of the modems in an environmentally safe manner.

whether they throw them on a dump or put compost above it, I wouldn't come near this offer with a 20ft UsRobotics Cable.

i'm sorry, but this is just some marketing guys brilliant idea to get some more stupid customers to sign up - it's just a gimmick.

do you really think their 1st priority is to "safely dispose of your old crap"? no.
 
The horror stories coming from people's experiences with their singularly inept accounts department should be more than enough for any sane individual for passing this offer up.

It just is not worth it.

Maybe iBurps is getting desperate?
 
How many people would rather keep the dial up modem than go back to IBurst?
 
I wanted to say something, then realised that R7 thing doesn't exist any more, other wise why would you want to trade in your modem if you could download 20GB a month on dial-up.... but ya :D n00b
 
And for those of us with internal modems?
 
IF iburst was the only Internet provider, I would rather go without - they will never have my business!
 
if it wasn't just for stupid credit with them, I'd do it .......... rather hammer these modems than go with Iburst thanks.

Yep, that sounds about right for a dialup user. Pulling down one gig a month of data at 56K. :rolleyes:

IBurst, the reason that people still use dialup is because there is no value proposition to switch. They don't want contracts, expensive modems and overpriced bandwidth - they want something cheap and flexible.

Oh, and lastly, they don't want to deal with your lousy accounts department.

Get your heads out of your a$$ and give people a real offer, if you keep up with the gimmicks then prepare for the scrapheap.

I don't think there much of an argument for dialup anymore unless all you want to do is download over the weekend and get as many GB as you can out of it.

Otherwise it's useless, why on earth would you be on dialup if you want something cheap and flexible :eek:?
 
What I want to know... how much will they give me for my old iBurst modem?
 
I'm still using by modem for faxing. They'll get my modem when they pry it from my cold, dead hand.
 
Hmmm...I wonder whose backside got violated while pulling the R1781 a month figure. As far as I know, for <R600 you get 150 hours of internet from telscum, including the R300 for closer plan 3. Never mind that, if anybody managed to get 1gig in 40 hours on conventional dial-up, you deserve an award. You'd need to download at over 7.28 kilobytes or 58.2 kilobits per second for 40 hours straight on a 56kbit/s connection.

I'm not a fan of iBurst but why do you say this is a deathtrap?

With any plan which offers the unlimited 64K softcap you're gonna win.

How much does it cost to dial up each time in standard time?
And that is at max 56k speed.

iBurst gives you always-on internet - so you can connect as many times
as you want. You get that first 1GB at 1Mb/sec max then unlimited
data at 64K/sec. That's a little faster than dial up BUT IT's FLAT RATE.

I think its a good deal unless you take into account iBurst's reckless
accounts department. Going thru a RESELLER solves that problem.
