There are countless people who earn enough to afford that, and others run their own businesses.

Pretty much where I'm coming from. The people I know (black and white) who spend a bar or two on cars get the problems sorted out very quickly, without having to go to the Press. This guy hasn't, which makes me wonder whether he's new at this. And if so, howcome. Etc.

And then another question arises ... crooks are sometimes the loudest complainers when they feel they've been crooked. At least the white ones I know of are, so I suspect the same might well be true of black ones and blue ones. ;)

That's all idle speculation, of course. I assume he's totally above board, a new car owner who's the unfortunate victim of rotten service. Tip: If it's not totally resolved in a week, phone the MD of BMW SA. If he's not in, phone his boss in Germany. It works without fail to concentrate the dealer's focus.

Indeed all kinds of things happen to new cars on the way to the showroom and whilst parked there. Sometimes it's just the factory spray job isn't spot on and a brand new car has to go to the panelbeaters for a touch up. As we all know, panel beaters aren't always sticklers for detail...
 
And that's why I prefer bikes.

They come in crates and if you really want can even be delivered to your door like that if you want to do your own PDI.

No trucks and transport and questionables.
 
I'm not sure why people are so shocked that people are paying R16k+ on car instalments.

You see all those big expensive cars on the road? Most of them are financed - and the bigger the loan the bigger the monthly instalment.

Yeah right, the BMW factory in Germany got the spray job wrong.

I have been to the BMW World and museum in Munich and wanted to go to the BMW production plant which is open to the public for viewing. It was booked a month in advance so I should've booked earlier. It is in Munich CBD and is three stories high. So the production line is also an architectural wonder as the whole line is highly robotic and compact over three floors.

Those robots don't "just" get the colour wrong. If it was a 5 series then I am sure even more so.
 
If it takes 3 months to notice any defects, I immediately become suspicious.

Is the guy blind and wealthy, or just wealthy and blind?

Mebbe his wife/gf/mate/butler pranged it while he was away and had it secretly "fixed"? It's happened many, many times before...
 
Incidently:

R1.1m over 72 months and with a 35% residual/balloon is around R17 000 per month.

Clearly this dude cannot afford this car. So will all the people wondering what job he has, the answer is probably nothing spectacular. He might even be earning a pretty normal junior management/specialist salary in Joburg around R800k or less.

Some guys just aren't into cars. He almost certainly doesn't wash it himself, and probably doesn't even look at it beyond making sure he's getting into the right car, just climbs in and drives.
 
Even brand new cars are touched up in the factory by idiots who do not blend and use the correct shade of paint.

Our last BT50 had a resprayed wing and overspray all over the windscreen.

It is from shunting in the factory, sometimes there are little accidents and panels are repainted, etc.

As for the rust on the axles, should be covered under the corrosion warranty. If Fomoco offers this, bmw will too. Probably just a hard ass customer/dealer situation.

they showroom has a 2% space for nissan :D

R8s, Ferraris, Porsches and a Mustang. Why would Nissan sell these other cars?
