That is what i have been warning against vis a vis the NHI .... there will inter alia be tenders going to the tendrepreneurs, with substandard service delivery and the end result will be that the NHI will be of lesser quality.

The NHI will go the same way as the Road Accident Fund IMO.
Just another tax for f-all return... I guess we just have to make a decision to live with it or GTFO. Personally I'm beginning to lean seriously towards the latter for the first time

That's one of the questions the article pushes, why haven't they? Also quite surprising the ANC isn't jumping up and down about this being exactly the reason a media tribunal is necessary

The figure cannot be correct. Its equal to the SARS revenue collection from tax for the whole of the 2000 tax year. Revenue for tax years prior to 1994 would have been less than 50 billion thanks to sanctions. Maybe somebody took an estimated amount over the 50 years the NP ruled and adjusted it for inflation. So 200 billion is BS.

Three of the country's provincial education departments cannot explain what they did with more than R44-billion allocated to them in the past financial year.

Nkau told stunned MPs: "There was a lack of internal controls totally. It is disappointing to note that three of the nine provinces regressed when we should be working towards a clean administration.

"The deficiencies open gaps for fraud, and for irregular and wasteful expenditure," she said

Compounding the problem, she said, was poor oversight by provincial MECs, their heads of department and chief financial officers.

Eastern Cape, the worst province in terms of financial management, received R20-billion from the Treasury but could not explain how R1.5-billion of it was spent. Many children in the province are still taught in open fields and under trees.
