R1999 5" Dual Core Android Smartphone

Ordered my Star N9770 yesterday, also eager to see what it can do. If this person can sell the phone for R1999 its a bargain, because mine worked out R1993 at a drop shipping site. Yes I must use DHL, this free shipping thing is not for me.

Why do people want to waste R1999 on a crap phone?

Here's some inside info for all you cheapskates :

You can get a Huawei Ascend P1 from selected Edgars stores for R1999.

Hint : The Ascend P1 has better specs than my Galaxy S2. ;)

I hate you. One credit card was basically freed up this month. I was nearly out of debt on the other and was tasting freedom. I was waiting for the Nexus 4 to see what price it would be when it is released in SA. I so wanted a high res screen, 2GB Ram and quad core processor with latest Android. But the P1's Price/performance/features - R1999/24 = R83/month and is hard to resist.

If the Huawei had dual sim, it would replace the S2 in my pocket ;)
 
I'd never even think of getting a 5" phone with 800x480. It's going to look terrible.

That Huawei has a PowerVR SGX540 GPU - that's the same in the SGS1. Rest of the specs look great though.

Nipped out of the office to the Gateway CNA, now I own my first Android phone. Not without a lot of guilt, but I am normally carrying a 2007 Nokia 6120c that falls apart (nothing a little bit of super glue won't fix) and a Nokia 5230 that has taken it's share of bangs for 2.5 years but is still in extremely great condition. But is Symbian from 2010.

This is a prepaid deal with Vodacom sim. Yuck.
 
Just went to menlyn can yesterday and grabbed one as well. Very impressed with it. Better then a s2. Rooted it and loaded the miui OS on it. Works like a bomb.
 
Just Got my chinese phone. Its the Jiayu G3. Very impressed.
Specs.
Dual Core Processor. 1GB Ram. 4.5" Display with Gorilla Screen. 720p HD Display. Dual Sim 3G. Couriers just delivered today. Quite impressed. Gonna play around with it tonight.
