I wouldn't spend even R2000 on these unless I see it in the flesh and read decent reviews. I was fortunate enough to get to play with MANY android tablets a few months ago and all of the Chinese knock offs were putrid, even though their specs looked good. Slow, dodgy build, crap screens, flaky touch and battery problems.

The entry level Samsung (even the older ones) were worth the extra.
 
Sounds Great,

Only issue might be the 800x480 display on a 5". Honestly its making me go "pass" even if at such a great price. If it was 4.3 I would have gone take my money.

Currently I carry 2 phone's so the dual SIM would have rocked.

But I'd have to say that for me persnolly - I'd drop that kind of cash on a 2nd hand SGS2.

Absolutely the phone comes with Google Play store and all Google Apps loaded and working.

I am fairly impressed.

I have been playing with it for more than a week now and with two sim cards running two networks I can get up to two days out of it with moderate use. With heavy use this will have to be recharged every day, but it should at least last from the morning to bed time. Not much worse than the branded phones out there.

Agreed. If there is one thing that I would like to upgrade it would be the resolution, but that puts it out of that R1999.99 price point where I want it. I have a 5.0" unit with the same resolution on the way, and I'm quite eager to see what difference that makes. Will bump the thread with some info on that unit when it arrives.
 
Seems off to a good start, could you please just flesh out some of the data you missed/didn't clarify:

  • for (cell) data - 900MHz HSPA? (I know you said you're using Cell-C for data, but I'm not about to assume anything)
  • up/down data speed info?
  • WLAN modes?
  • FM radio (if yes, with RDS)?
