R2k GPU Challenge

Gents,


I have decided to play me some BF3 and WoW again so need a new GPU that will cater for this, after looking at 1000 different shops and listings I have decided on a 2k budget.

I will run everything on 1920x1080 as that is the native of my screen, and am not that phased if fps drops in busy areas. as long as it is 30+ mostly


Any suggestions? I have come up with the KFA2 GF550-Ti but cannot really find proper benchmarks for it :-(

Rest of the kit is Athlon II x2 265 , 8gb DDR3 and SSD for OS/games.

Do you have a graphics card already?

You can look at a 560 non Ti, might be your best bet.

EDIT:

Otherwise get this and save yourself R500.

This chart could also help. Maybe its worth spending the extra bucks on a 560Ti?

Oh one more thing. I think the 660Ti is due for release any day now. It probably wont be in your price range, but it might lower the prices of other cards.

BF3 will laugh at that processor. I have to overclocked Q8200, and that stresses big time.

What's your current GPU?

I'd say get a 7770.

Your CPU will be a problem.

BF3 requires a quad. I have a 955 I might sell if you entice me with a price.
 
You guys have fed my suspicions around the CPU abilities, I have been eyeing a Quad/Hex replacement for some time now but it has never really been a necessity and based on the minimum/recommended requirements I figured I would first run in to troubles before just replacing the CPU.

So the question still remains, which GFX to get?

On the reviews I have seen that the 7770 is not that highly rated compared to the nVidia counterpart, but I did not take in to consideration the OC editions.
 
My GTX460 1GB runs BF3 well on 1920*1080 @ high overall settings.

So I'm sure a 5XX series should get the job done or even a high 4 series (GTX460/465/470/480)

(EDIT The 4XX series should be much cheaper than the 5XX series also the 5xx series arn't a hell of a lot better than the 400 series)
