My dad has tasked me with assisting him with a backup solution. His budget is R30,000.

Was thinking of something like this:

Would appreciate help in identifying pros and cons?

Anybody have other alternatives I should consider?

I pretty much use that setup to run my whole house, excluding geyser and stove. I even added fridges. I do have 3000Va/3000watt with faster charger model(up to 60a 24v), where this is 3000va/2400watt with the weaker charger with runs max 27a charging.

Runs fine for me.

Just have watch to battery if I run gaming pc at full tilt.

I heard leroymerlin stuff is not always in stock, so maybe just make sure of the stock.

Avoid Hubble. No after sales support unless through your installer. They themselves will not honour any warranty. I, as many others, have experienced it first hand. Get Pylontech.

Thanks. I don't like the 0.5C rating on the Pylontech batteries. Maybe I look into different brands.

Running a similar setup at home, (just a home made battery)

Runs everything except the kitchen and geyser. Kids and wife are happy with it, which means I am happy

I have the same kit in a portable Addis tote/tub on wheels, but with S-120's. Batteries and inverter in the tub with plenty of holes in the sides. Very happy.

In that price range, it does not seem like there are many other options. Even the Pylontech's mentioned above will blow the budget.

I noticed these on PowerForum store - looks like rebranded Hubbles?

Why though? Surely it makes all the sense in the world for the inverter to be outside to see what is happening on the screen?

Far more practical for me to have it all enclosed. I then put plants on top of it to hide it a bit. Out of sight, out of mind. I've only needed to check on it a few times. Also helps reduce fan noise.

The Hubble kit looks perfect for your old man, surely Leroy Merlin should assist with any warranty issues that might arise? And since it's plug n play there's no wiggling room for them to accuse the buyer of not using an approved installer.

I would pull the trigger on that while stocks last.

I'm not sure I fully understand an off-grid inverter. How do the batteries get charged?

I have a 2KVa rackmount UPS that batteries x4 have failed, any idea if I can turn this into a inverter + car battery story?

Please please can we stop with this 1C rating thing, you run a battery at 1C constantly you are going to drastically reduce it's life span, look at recommended discharge not maximum.

Batteries are consumables and immediately start degrading with use, even lithium, the better you treat them the longer they will last.

Seems someone has found the Hubble OEM and is importing directly alongside.

My car runs between 1,000 to 2,000 rpm on the highway, but can get as high as 6,000 rpm. I don't constantly run it at 5,000 though as it will drastically reduce its lifespan. However, I do not want it to cut out on the odd occasion I go above 4,000 rpm. And I don't want to add a second engine and double the cost to allow for it.
