You can drive anything with a Kombi. Just pack and extra radiator and engine.

Radiator? Hmmm first we should probably ask how old the kombi is. Those old T1s with the portal axles can go anywhere... Also, if it's a has-radiator kombi it could be a synchro or a 4Motion...
Anywayz, I did it with a Fiat Uno in the late 90s and with a Golf about six years ago and the road was significantly worse six years ago. Should not be an issue with a kombi, especially going down.
