R40 000 acount

Much of that profit comes from not having these limiting options trigger in real time. I understand this perfectly
Less than two dozen words - how much simpler can it be explained???

In this sentence two letters make the world's difference:
If u use it... your abuse
The "use" is (maybe) a statement of fact.
The "abuse" however is an opinion...
And your point is...
The 40K account came from usage...he agreed that friends used to come over and use the internet after which a huge bill was received that's not an opinion .. abuse..for sure.

My sister uses mtn data on farm.
Only mtn available.

Every month the account is about R2000.
She had lots of friends who use the internet and now R40 000.
She query, but the statement shows how the data was used.

Can't you put a blocking gig / rands value on an account. [like adsl]

MTN are very clever if you have a debit order and all of a sudden while on leave your account will be debited with R16000.00/ R14000.00 and R12000.00 in a 3 month periode and then you cannot get any details from then and they are not intersed in your problems as they have to pay for their sponsorship for the world soccer tournament. So for R2000. bought out of my contract and now use Vodacom prepaid data and for about R190 i get 500mb that last me 2 months and then i still have about 150 mb over. so my advise is stay away from MTN.

While that is true, the government should force MTN/VC to have a system where one can set a max limit per month and be GUARANTEED no matter what, that that system will block further b/w usage (and leave voice calls alone).

In the EU, VC or MTN would be in millions of fines per day if they had business over there and pulled similar stunts. The EC would fine them to death per day of abuse. In SA our government is toothless (they get $$ too from these guys) and besides it's the middle class which get screwed and not their voters so they don't care and it nets them VAT and tax.

My point is, if you bothered to read the quote as well - the use is what was used (that is if you can believe MTN's data counters and billing system). Is the "use" denied? Even if the bill was R400k (and it was correct of course), it was still use. How it can be termed abuse is beyond me. Maybe if you don't pay for it, used it to the detriment of MTN's service (?) to other customers, etc. it can be classified as abuse. Yes, his friend's abused him, but he didn't abuse it. Google the definition of the word "abuse", read through only a few of the millions you will find and then explain to me how you can say this is "abuse" by MTN's client.

There is (almost) such a system for certain clients - the ones using PPDBs....

The user allowed her friends to use her account and a few of them might have abused her kind offering. Although she is responsible for the usage, the question remains as to why MTN allowed her to run up such a high account without any warning.

/I would never have placed my self in this situation, especially not on a cellular-based account! It's looking for trouble.
