Protesters hijack truck and block R59 in Meyerton

Gauteng police used rubber bullets on Monday morning to disperse protesters who had blockaded the R59 in Meyerton, Gauteng, and were stoning vehicles.

Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said residents from Sicelo informal settlement attacked a brewery truck driver and hijacked his vehicle. They parked the truck in the middle of the road, which they also blockaded with burning tyres.

"They took some of the liquor from the truck and keys from the driver [and] they parked the truck in the middle of the road," Masondo said.

Yesterday - a convoy of about 100 taxis drove into Siclelo.
The drivers blocked the roads in the township, got out of their taxis, armed. And told them the protest action is over.
They were costing them too much time and money by blocking the roads, and that they will shoot everyone the next time the Highway is closed.

It looks like both sides of the highway is open today.:whistle:

Hasn't this happened there before? Or was it elsewhere? Got a feeling of de ja vu.

That will probably sort the protestors out for good, it is the only language they're likely to understand. They know the thug taxi drivers have the means to find and sort them out.
