R6500 gaming pc build suggestions

Hey guys, insurance is about to pay me out for my stolen pc so looking around at what to get for the new system. I have about R6500 to play with for the parts, chassis plus all internal bits, already got a 24 inch full hd monitor and keyboard, mouse etc are sorted. Was thinking of either an amd quad with amd 6850 or intel i5 with gtx460. I have no preference about specific brands, just want quality and the best value I can get.

Best I can find so far is i5 2400 @ R1749, foxxcon mobo @ R931, 4gb ddr3 1333 @ R375, 1tb seagate sata6 @ R530, dvd writer @ R199, GTX550Ti @ R1699. 550w psu @ 400 and gigabyte chassis at 300. I would prefer a 460 or 6850 and don't really overclock but would if needed( i5 2500k is wat I really want, but don't want to sacrifice the graphics)

I like Pada's build, but I would look for another motherboard... I bought an ECS p67 mobo for another build and that was about R777.\

I'm in east london, have a very well priced shop locally, but they don't carry a lot of stock all the time, can check them out at www.thepcshop.co.za, might be .com, not too sure
 
They seem to be reasonably priced. :) Take my build or Pada's build to them and ask them to quote you. See what they ask and then see if it will be worth it to buy from them.
 
One thing though, the quotes that SharkBait and I posted didn't include the assembly of the PC, because we usually assume that the people can assemble the PC's themselves.

Good point. Also, like Pada said, no DVD writers or software included.

I made the mistake last year of using some money to buy a PS3.. Mainly to play Fifa, and that's honestly the only use it had.. Although I bought Assassin's Creed for it as while later. But it's been gathering dust the last 2 months.. Until Fifa12 comes along again.. Still not sure if it is worth the 3K.
 
Don't worry, console fever will never get me. Lol. I have built all my own pc's, but think it would be cheaper to have something built and have one box sent instead of 5 or 6, postage wise. I did get a good unofficial quote from a fellow member, just wana see what my friend can put together.
