R799 3G wifi Router

Sorry i have to ask this but i totally can't find the thread or the news article(or maybe i just remember wrong lol :P)

Well...

I remember reading a while back that you could get a wifi 3G router for R799, (which is cheaper than buying a Ipad +3G but for the life of me i can't find the article, or am i just going TOTALLY bonkers?

esquire has a 3G router , saw it in the express shop in Milnerton branch a while back, price, if my memo serves me right was bout R500 exclusive of vat

I am looking for the wifi + 3G modem. Its about credit card sized...

@Joe thanks for the input, i found that in my search but i could swear there was one which was all in one, since those you still need to plug in the 3G stick...
 
Mifi? The hauwei ones are 3g modems and wifi
 
I have a Netgear MBR624 which works like a charm. The only thing you need to look out for with 3G routers is that your 3G modem is supported. For the Netgear, there is a list - I'm sure the other manufacturers have similar ones. This, of course, assumes you're not looking at a router that has the 3G modem built-in.

I bought this one last week while in Chicago in the USA. I had first checked it's compatibility with the Cell C black 3G modems (which it is - I checked on the manufacturers web site). When I got back to SA, I just plugged in my Cell C 3G stick, and voila, wireless internet. Also great to use powered by Eskom, then if there is a power failure, it continues to work for several hours on it's own internal battery. Small, and use it anywhere - in the car, on trips etc. I want to find a second spare battery for it.

The Mifi all in one unit is available from iStores @ 1499, its the all in one credit card size modem you are looking at. I think its actually a rebadged Huawei E5
 
May I suggest the Edimax 6200n (R500 excl vat) - can "take" the Cell C 1820 Huawei 3G Dongle (I am using this at present) or 6210n (not sure about price, but can run of battery).

R1.5K is ALOT for a mifi :(

uhm... i remember the ipad being talked about in conjunction with this device... and i did expressly say i want to use the device with a ipad...

@ everyone else, thanks for your input, seems i must have read wrong, just wish mifi devices were much cheaper...
