Racism in Australia ?

Its pretty common and a real issue from what I understand.

You get stupid people everywhere. Not sure why this should come as a surprise.

Not sure whether this is propaganda or reality, but :

This is disgusting. Could someone confirm such behaviour happen daily in Australia ? May be some Australians believe they live in the 19th century...

Australians are just more vocal and straight forward about their opinions than what the rest of the world are. They are also generally arrogant. Best way to deal with an Aussie is to ask them how they first came to Australia. Usually shuts them up pretty quickly

racism is alive & kicking in every country so don't know why everybody is all of a sudden freaking out about it ...

Why do you think there are so many South Africans in Australia? I have family there and they say the racial intolerance is awful, not only towards blacks but the asians there too.

Yes, after "Crime happens everywhere" we have "Racism is everywhere..."

Sad...

May be the hypothetical Volkstaat will be more tolerant.

I wonder why such a country is ranked 2nd as the best country to live in. May be for White only

Yeah, my missus is asian and some of her friends there get treated terribly. I think the two countries they have the most racial issues with is Australia and the UAE.

There are racists outside of South Africa??
No way, no freaking way!!

I wonder what would happen if we had freedom of speech laws like in the USA. Everyone would be able to say what they want to anyone because by law, 'words' do not harm you. It'd really take the punch out of what people say.

+ 1 000 000

sticks & stones might break your bones, but words will never hurt you - my mother taught me that in Grade 2 after some kids called me names, and it stuck I do not get offended anymore

What about racial violence?

that's where the sticks&stones bit comes in ;)

violence is violence when you remove all the various labels added to it e.g domestic, racial, bullying etc.

and then you can either fight or take flight ... simple really

Fact:

Australia is the most racist place on earth.

*It's up for debate though*

Some feed back, I lived in OZ for approx 5 years on and off. As a high school and Uni student.

They, second/third/fourth/Fifth, British ancestry, not sure the whites go back much further TBO, have a name for anyone and everyone.

Wogs, Daigos, Boongs, Nips, Chinks, Septic Tanks etc.

This culture permeates society, but not the educated there.

Now, I got a lot of stick as a kid therefrom 1 in 10 white Ozzies, being the bad wolf from apartheid land, until I politely informed them that the apartheid model was copied from.

Guess what the Oz system for the original Aboriginals.

Shock horror, seems history has a few stories to tell, which they do not like.

Still, one must realise that their lower class is not of the educational level of their middle/high class. At least when I was there, there were no CASATO members digging ditches, get the idea.

Still, racism is rife. Research the white emigration policy that I believe was only dropped in the late "70's.

Now the emigration policy is skills related, now you may get the picture.

Still an underlying "lesser" class seeing all these "other ethnicities" getting admitted as Doctors, Engineers, Scientist, etc, things do not change until you have the accent and colour. These attitudes seem to have not change in the 10 years I have not been there.

That said, probably the only country they they had a "connection" to was the SAFAS, strange I know, but of the Septic tanks, Euros, Asian (sub continent & far East), were not treated the same way as I was. Having grown up during apartheid, one can see the subtle differences in acceptance.

So yes, the Ozzies are racist, but usually only from the lesser educated populace.

Only one other nation I have dealt with are more racist, the biggest army anyone?

This is just my experience, but believe me, with the level of education there, not everyone is a racist, far from it, just a smaller part of their population %.

Yes they jest us, but the majority respect us, (as long as we do not take their jobs)

I still have some amazing good honest friends there. Good people, good friends when the chips are down.

So in conclusion, they can be extremely racist, in a small % of the population. But, they are also respectful of new immigrants and the skills they can bring to their economy.

(Something different here if we look back about 12 months to the death and destruction havocked)

Bugger, why did I leave:confused:

Just my 2 c (make that for Eishkom/NHI = $2)
