Racist attack in Pretoria

I find our country's fascination with race amusing and yet saddening at the same time. One would think the bigger issue in this article would the assault rather on whether we should be terming this a racist attack or not.

The bigger issue is not the assault, thats an everyday occurence. The bigger issue is the cop.

Now if you take things the way the media does:

When a white owned vehicle drives into a black owned vehicle by accident it is all over the news as another racial attack. But when 10 taxi drivers beat the living sh|t out of a white motorist it's just business as usual.
Racial attacks should be named from both sides and not only from one side.
And assault should be the same.

i don't know how these things work, if the both parties were there, would the police have to ask if the assualted person wants to press charges? and if that person doesn't want to press charges are the cops obliged to still arrest that person?

are you saying that every attack on a black person by a white person is reported as a racist attack? isn't south african media largely white owned?

What? The black man wasn't racist. The white man provoked him by throwing unnecessary remarks about renaming streets which led to the black guy to accidentally hit him out of frustration with the chair. If it wasn't for the white guy, it would have never happened. Conclusion it's the white guy's fault.... he's a racist.

That's how everyone will probably will try to explain the incident. Headline: "Poor black guy being victimized... again!"

I just wish people stopped looking at race and culture!! Don't we have better things to do?

This attack will never be considered racist in the current political climate in SA.

Yet, if the roles had been reversed, it probably would have been on CNN or something, never mind News24. But, the white guy was rather dumb to attack the cop.

I am actually surprised that I am posting here, usually stories about so-called racist attacks bore me, as the victim is inevitably black, and the perpetrator white. As CTSA said, don't we have better things to do?.

It is the only card they will ever have to play so obviously they will use as their fathers, grandfathers etc did as well
 
Our society is becoming ever more obsessed with racism, WTF people really?

Does every fight between a white person and a black person stem from racism?

Hell, this means that when 2 people of different races express their opinions it's always racist of the both of them to have different opinions?

Unless racist insults where flung from either side, I don't really see how this fight can be deemed "racism"?

Some people need to lighten the hell up, and see reality without their racism tinted glasses, and im referring to both sides of the fence here. It seems like our nation is getting more and more obsessed with racism even when there is none, whites bleating about racism from blacks, even when there is none, blacks bleating about whites being racist even when you tell someone of colour that jumps ahead of you in a queue to go to the back of the queue.

What a messed up society we live in, seriously.
