Racist motivated killings

He could have this and he could have that... defending the indefensible... keep going...

Why should be keep going, you do nothing but force your ideals on him? He merely put some other options on the table and you're just steamrolling down with your single view.

I can imagin what the white kid is gonna do in prison when he is jammed into a cell with blacks hehehe ...my opinion... bring back the Death pealty

its funny you should pick on this ... what about when the white farmers that are under paying the black staff, physically abusing them, treating them worse than animlas... its these sort of things that get these idiot white farmers killed... not racism so dont make it racist... if these farmers are killed because of their cruel deeds then i say they derserve it and more of them should be killed cos jail just is to easy for them

just my opinion :D:D:D

Have you got some articles on the abuse? Assumption is the mother of all ****up's.

other options .
what a joke, what's this multiple choice. the kid took the trouble of going into the local settlement and gunning down a number of folk 4 of which died. They happened to be black not by coincidence but by design, let's stick to the facts as presented by the case. This was a racially motivated attack. You can put whatever slant on it you like doesn't change the fact...What reason would he have to kill a 3 month old baby? What has a 3 month old baby done to him or his family to vindicate his decision to kill him?!!! It's cold blooded and racist in the extreme end of story...

Thank goodness we have courts and not narrow minded people giving out sentences from the side-lines. Too much CSI?

Gees bud which part of murder are you falling to fathom? The courts will find this idiot guilty of 4 counts of 1st degree murder. We don't need CSI, it's an open and closed case...

May you ask and then to comment on the same issues when other people are murdered daily under the new separated grouping of so called botched up robberies. Black and white is involved but the point is they are mostly motivated due to race even when the victims were black they were brutally murdered because they are a different race or ethnic group. Race is not only between black and white as you believe and showed here many times with your ill directed posts!

The next you will tell me the murders in Kenya is also not racially motivated!

are you asking me a question? or you making a statement?

There you go again off on some tangent I don't understand, focus on this case and the facts as presented by the press pertaining to this case. Try for once to leave Zim, Kenya and the rest of Africa out of the debate and focus on the events that occurred at Swartruggens, South Africa.

This is disgusting - and probably comes from his fathers opinions and feelings. I obviously cant say but judging by his age his father or some relative must have influenced his descisions or thoughts.
Breeding racism is the worst thing anyone can ever do. Senseless, mindless killing of people of another race should not be tolerated and the accused should face maximum time in prison.
I hope this has an effect on racists everywhere and i hope there are no readers who tolerate it.
Racism must end and so must these old school beliefs - if you think you are better than another man because of your colour, you should be sent to a little island somewhere and never return.

Boy oh boy.... what some people do to get in the news...:mad:
This is just adding fuel to the fire with regards to the crime situation in this country, and with regards to the race problems.

Interesting reading.... those the closest to the tragedy see through the politicians etc etc...amazing

The day the devil got into Johan Nel

‘I understand it, I would be angry too if something (like this) happened to my kids or grandchildren’ — Corrie Nel, mother of the Skierlik shooter

‘It’s a pity that a young boy had to be invaded by the devil’

Mother tries to fathom what made her son shoot 10 blameless people.

He had just passed his matric exams — but, unlike his peers who were looking forward to student life and a bright future, Johan Nel had a heavy sword hanging over his head.

He was scheduled to be sentenced next year for a crime he committed when he was 13 years old.

This week 18-year-old Nel stunned the tiny community of Skierlik, near Swartruggens in North West, when he went on a shooting spree with his father’s .303 rifle, killing four people and wounding six more .

As the small town tried to make sense of the tragedy, some remembered him as “an ordinary child” from an “ordinary family”.

But home-schooled Nel was not that; for four years he had lived under the shadow of another shooting.

In 2003, at the age of 14, he pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent use of a firearm after he shot a man he claimed had attacked him with a sickle on the family farm.

According to Swartruggens Magistrate’s Court prosecutor Colin Uys, Nel was convicted in 2004, but sentencing was postponed for five years as he was minor.

A guarded Corrie Nel told the Sunday Times this week that her family decided at the time to have their son plead guilty, even though they believed he had acted in self-defence when he shot the grass-cutter.

An unknown man had appeared on the family farm and allegedly threatened Nel, she said.

“As I see it, it was self-defence, maybe he was under stress then because of the previous farm attacks when his brother was (attacked).

“The person had no right (to be) on the farm,” Corrie said on Friday.

“‘Witman, vandag maak ek jou dood,’ (White man, today I kill you) — that is what he said the man told him before he shot him.”

She said the family had not wanted to turn the incident into a racial situation and, because the victim “was not seriously injured”, they opted for a guilty plea on the relatively minor charge of negligent use of a firearm.

The Sunday Times was not able to obtain the court records, and it is unclear why Nel was not charged with attempted murder for the 2003 attack.

In trying to fathom her son’s actions this week, Corrie said attacks on farmers in the area had affected him .

“I think we didn’t realise he was under a lot of stress with all the things that happened in the past.

“In this area , a cousin’s family was shot in the drive way, another cousin was shot in a hijack, an uncle was murdered at Hart beesfontein.

“It was just a lot ... and the things that had happened to us,” — a reference to the attack on Nel’s younger brother years ago when he was alone on the farm.

“We didn’t realise. We had taken him for trauma counselling, and we thought it was enough, but obviously it wasn’t .”

His mother said that, a day before the shooting this week, Nel vomited when he heard that a close family friend had survived being gassed in her home by intruders.

A drained Corrie said: “One of the victim’s grandmother’s sent me a message and told me she’s not angry, but there are others who are angry.

“I understand it, it’s normal, I would be angry too if something happened to my kids or grandchildren.”

The Skierlik killings have sparked a massive outcry, with allegations that they were racially motivated, and claims by some that the small North West town was riddled with racial tension.

Outside the Swartruggens Magistrate’s Court, where Nel appeared on Thursday, several hundred demonstrators held up placards reading: “Kill the devil” and “Hang Hom” (Hang him).

Others shouted: “Kill the Boer, Kill the farmer.”

Skierlik lies between the Nel farm and the nearest town of Swartruggens, about 60km from Rustenburg.

Its homes — some of them brightly painted and surrounded by vegetable gardens — are wedged between the railway line and the road to nearby Koster.

Home to a few hundred people, Skierlik has only a few flush toilets, two communal taps and no electricity.

Many of the residents are unemployed and the area is very poor.

The devastation of Nel’s killing spree was felt throughout the community .

A notice attached to the door of a house where one of the victims was shot dead advertised a memorial service for those who lost their lives .

A mass memorial is being planned for Sivuyile Dinana, 30, Anna Ikgoboleng Moiphitlhi, 31, 10-year old Tshepo Mothshelanoka and three-month-old Keditlhotse Moiphitlhi .

Two three-year-olds, Tshepo Moiphitlhi and Orikarabile Loutreng, and Kgomotso Seruthe, 23, Kelebogile Seruthe, 21, Pauline Lethoko, 24, and Alex Ndlovu, 74, all survived being shot .

Some in the grieving community are not happy about the racism row over the killings.

Some Skierlik residents expressed discontent with politicians and trade unions who they accused of busing in demonstrators who “didn’t even know the victims” and who were looking for racism that wasn’t there.

Victim Lethoko, speaking from a bed at the Swartruggens Hospital on Thursday, said she did not believe that it was a racially charged attack.

Kgomotso Seruthe, who was shot in the leg while trying to flee the scene, also said she did not think they were shot because they were black.

Neither woman felt comfortable about returning to Skierlik once discharged from hospital.

Other Skierlik residents said they believed it was simply a case of one man who had turned “bad”, and that it was not fair to blame others for his actions.

Patrick Lipudi, a relative of 10- year old Tshepo who died during the attack said: “It’s a pity that a young boy had to be invaded by the devil.

“He was a human being. It’s not a racial thing; he’s one of our own.”

Another relative, Conny Motshelanoka, 27, said:“At night we are scared he will come back.”

Cosatu secretary for North West, Solly Phetoe, said the shooting was definitely racially motivated: “It is a racial issue.”

ANC MP Patrick Chauke criticised the white community for not showing solidarity with the victims.

Johan Nel, who has not yet pleaded, is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday.

Racism is never mentioned because in most cases it's not the motive for the murder. Not weird, most murders are widely covered in the media and the alleged motive is also stated - in most cases it's robbery...

So explain to me how my best friend (a white 18 year old girl) was shot and killed in front of her dad in 2004....What was the motive??? She got pulled out of her car and shot dead!!!! The ****ers didn't take anything...they just ran!!! Explain this to me:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
