Who else thinks the metro fm ads with the wit wolf barking and the guy walking down the street oblivious to it are a funny stab at history? Maybe I'm just reading too much into it...

People who hang onto these issues will live with them for the rest of their lives... I prefer to get on with mine and ignore the twak out there - there's too much to be bothered with. I don't give politics more attention than it deserves.
 
I don't listen to Metro FM crap. They're anyway a bunsh of racist fools who will get away with anything.

With a sarcastic (apparently) black man "making fun" of the white men dancing to a Mandoza song who act like a bunch of black man wanabes. But us white people allow like this on TV because we 'victimised the blacks' for so long and we 'feel guilty' about our actions. I don't feel guilty. I was a fking child when apartheid ended. I AM SICK OF ALL THE RACIST BLACKS WHO THINK THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY WHATEVER THEY CHOOSE ABOUT WHITE PEOPLE!

You could have said RACIST BLACK PEOPLE instead of RACIST BLACKS, it would have made your argument and distress more balanced since you went as far as saying WHITE PEOPLE.

I have seen the AD but I have not paid deep attention to it as compared to the Voda one.

The AD is spot on, Black people are more likely to dance better to Kwaito music compared to White people, it would be the opposite in case of Rock or Pop.

The AD did not distress me, maybe because I'm black, but either way I can't dance :D Don't worry yourself too much about this, the more we start seeing ourselves as Africans, South Africans, Human Beings instead as a bunch wearing white or black skin, the better, we can all move forward as a Nation, a human race. Though we must acknowledge that there will be others who will want to hinder the process through their destructive slogans and actions.

Easy for you to say as black people don't get direct insults to their stereotypes on TV.
 
What is the message

I aapreciate that one must look for the humour in things - and yes it is good to laugh at yourself -- foibles of your group etc etc.

However take a bit of time to look around and try and be perceptive

This is what I notice -- might not be what you see :D

Across the board --

in all the ads I see on SABC the white dude is ALWAYS the butt of the joke -- ie really stupid white man -- and generally always male.

In printed ads / Print Media I always tend to see a white girl / woman together with a non white dude.

You do not often see a white dude with a black woman.

The ads are always painfully PC


As I said -- just my observations.

1st for women insurance pokes fun at men ;)
Axe deodrant stereotypes women as sex-crazed animals ;)
Vodacom used an old white person as a butt of all the technology and phone jokes ;)
Darryn Simpson often acts as a black person calling from some place for pranks with a stereotypical african accent when speaking english ;)

i can't wait to see this advert :D

i think the phrase "do not often" is evident enough that it does still happen :) how many shows are there on tv? and we live in a multicultural society. even in newspapers there are hundreds of examples of adverts with different people in them, and find that in most media it isn't always just for poliical correctness, but also for what most people WANT :D
