RAID Failure

Hehe... Yeah some people just don't seem to die :D

Thing is i bet you he is like 17:) Man those guys are hectic. Im normally more of a reader as you can see by my join date but lately i have become a bit more active:p

Thanks. Quite a read. Understand much better now. But one 320gb will be more than enough for me:p No terabyte drives just yet.

I'll do that, but it still boggles my mind how two drives failed simultaneously... We have other servers with this exact setup and I am a little worried that this might occur again.

Restoring the Windows server is easy, but getting our Linux boxes back to their current state is going to take a while.

It's not impossible. Seen it so many times where drives used from the same batch, for machines built at the same, and delivered to the same customer, failed within hours/days of each other. It happens...

Were both of the HDD's actually faulty? (take them out and run them through a disk check)

not sure, the error message the Intel Storage Console spat out was very cryptic.

just booted the server and windows ran a checkdisk on the array. It found quite a few errors, but at least the array came up.

I'm making a quick backup onto tape and them I'll investigate what exactly the problem is. currently it looks like only one drive is faulty, but I'm not taking any chances. I will set up a new RADI5/6 array with new drives and move data across.
