Rain 5G Speed Upgrade

I never really understood the 720p restriction anyway. I’ve always been streaming on 1080p :unsure:

Not too bad. Upload is usually higher though, not sure why it's low today.
 
Hope they added infrastructure to deal with congestion of more sign ups. My premium 5G with Rain goes over 50mbps on the rare occasion when there's a full moon and the planets align. Asked two consultants to be moved to a tower closer to my location as there are 4 towers within 500m from residence but I'm still on a tower 2km away - the default response is to take the sim card out for 10 mins then restart and hope it connects to a closer tower - btw this never works.

Is the VPN issue still present, the reason I had to leave rain. As soon as you jump on VPN for work, speeds goes from 30mbps to 2mbps
 
Not really Just tested it , I get 6 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up
I get the reasoning behind the choice.

But to tell your users over the phone, well yeah sorry there is nothing we can do to help, rather look at a different provider is not the most professional thing.

Glad my Fibre was installed and I could stop my Rain.
 
They have new packages that launched today it seems. They now also have a 25Mbps now.
Yeah for R200 less than the 50Mbps one. Saw it just now. Hopefully the new additions on the 25Mbps package won’t impact the others.
 
Does not look like there is way on the Rain website to upgrade from a 4G product to a 5G one. So I would have to cancel the 4G product I'm currently on and then purchase a 5G product and go through the process again

If it don’t show upgrade then it can mean you not in coverage but if you are then contact rain

There is no migration path from rain’s 4G to 5G products or vice-versa. If you would like to subscribe to rain’s 5G service we suggest the following approach:

1. Check that you are in rain’s 5G coverage area by entering your address into the coverage map on rain’s homepage (www.rain.co.za). Scroll down to the section marked ‘check your coverage’ and enter the full physical address of where you will be using the 5G service.
2. Check to ensure that the location pin on the map matches – and that it is covered by a dark blue layer. (Dark Blue = 5G coverage, Light Blue = 4G coverage).
Once you have successfully set up your 5G service you can cancel your 4G service if you no longer require it.

They actually don’t … they do get refunded depending or something but they actually don’t pay twice …

no point in saying this if you haven’t experienced it …

If you order a new product before your existing one has been cancelled (after a full month's notice), then you deserve to pay for two products. It's not Rain's problem, and it goes for anything in life.
