Don't know how I put up with this, guess I don't have a choice currently. Did some speed tests this morning wanted to check speed as things just didn't seem right. Noticed https://speed.rain.co.za/ things seemed to be ok'ish, check the other speed test sites and suspicions confirmed.

RAIN paints a lovely picture via https://speed.rain.co.za but in reality things are not as they seem. Test all taken within a minute or so. Did two RAIN tests to make sure.

Signal quality is fine. Fact is RAIN's supposed speeds do not reflect what I am getting, YouTube, Netflix is buffering and d/l reflective of the speeds seen on FAST and Ookla. Can anyone explain the massive discrepancies?

I find that Speedtest are inconsistent on Rain. The actual download speeds are usually higher than what the Speedtest would suggest.

I concur with your findings, and experience similar discrepancies.

Can't be RAIN seeing that their premium package is truly "unlimited", and they dont throttle anything... or so I've been told

Rain is selling a service that it does not have. I Allegedly have congestion on my end resulting in continuous disconnects. You cannot hace 24/7/365 congestion. I call BS. No one is online at 1:30 AM on a monday morning before work. Everyone except me is sleeping. That is what normal People do.

Now at work I have Flawless connection. I am the only connection on the tower. ( I am 30KM from civilization. and Every one else at work are not allowed to have any form of electronic device on their person. )

Yet I cannot exceed 100Kbps no matter what I do. On Speedtest I get the full speed but any other utility from mails right trough to Torrents is shaped. even Banking is slow.

Can a Rain Rep Please tell me What I am paying for. Because it is not for internet.

Rain forgot to whitelist fast.com, I have found that is the only site that shows my true connection speeds, the other ones are just making rain look good and you crazy.

I suspect their datacentres are heavily contended as well....

A regular ISP would contend perhaps 1:64 users.... Rain contends 1:999999999999999

That is unacceptable. If you state a speed you need to maintain it. When you get more users you upgrade. FFS they are paying for it in any case. What is your problem .

Thanks for replies. Just did a MyBB speed test vs. RAIN speed test and they seem to be in agreement. Not sure what to make of things must be honest. At 200Mbps I should have zero buffering. Signal still good.

Did a Fast.com test and it still looks dismal. Also did single connection test which is also very telling. Are these other speedtest sites being throttled?

As a test I usually bring up some 4k YouTube videos to test line speed. Usually it autos to 4k no issues. Currently it is autoing to a 360p/60 stream which tells me the 200Mbps RAIN is claiming is not what I am getting and it shows if to see the other speed tests.

I have feeling RAIN is throttling my line for some reason. Not even a heavy users. Will get to bottom of it. Everything was going ok after I setup permanent residency on specific cell on tower. Going top clear that and see if that helps.

Speeds are back to "normal" it seems. Would love to figure out what RAIN was doing in background. Looks like I was not the only only one this was happening too.

Smells of throttling must be honest.

Exact same thing was happening to me. 2 days ago suddenly I can’t stream anything yet I can download files at normal speed. Below are my ookla tests. Yet if I test on rain Speedtest I get full speed so I look like an idiot telling lies. I even did screen records to prove I’m not crazy. But now since this morning everything is back to normal
