Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

You should know, Mr McKenna.
I just cant get over how weird it is here in the western cape,
either its so hot, that it feels like Raanana, only without Hummus and Bombs.
or its cold and wet, you think the London and Vancouver made a baby and its name was cape town.

and then sometimes, its like its glitching, rain for a second, and then stops,
or clouds that come and go so quickly you swear its CGI almost how comically fast they appear and go.

Born and bred Capetonians think of Cape Town as having four seasons a day. I have a jacket in my car permanently even if it is 35 degrees.

Haha so they say, but for me that's a pretty massive overstatement

Of course, but going from sunny to rain and windy is not unusual. I still keep a permanent jacket in my car.
In winter perhaps, definitely not summer.

As for wind, this is the Cape of Storms, we should be surprised if there isn't wind. LOL

Cape Town's not really a jacket kind of city. Even wearing a jersey is only for those very clear evenings in the late winter in the Northern suburbs.

maybe this is what the vallie in me is complaining about, in that the weather here is permanently glitching,
goes from hot to cold and then windy and then sunny and then rain all in the space of 4 hours,
madness, utter madness sometimes.

Even the worst of Cape Town winters is considered mild compared to the rest of the world.

Wind is a bastard though. For tourists, Cape Town has the perfect weather "on paper" but that rarely includes the wind LOL

Indeed. Wind is always stronger over the ocean, than over land. There is no land between Cape Town and the Antarctic.

Edit: We are almost an 'island' in the middle of the South Atlantic. P.S. If you want really miserable weather, try Marion Island (only 10 degrees latitude S of CT).

A deep frontal low will pass south of CT tomorrow (Sat 28th), bringing strong winds, light rain and cooler temperatures.

Found out my one kid has a competition and then workshop in CT in the June/July holiday for a week. With the costs of flights we figured cheaper to just road trip the whole family down and see what we can make of it. Hopefully there is an occasional nice weather day while I am down there to do some non-indoor stuff. Always pictured Cape Town in that period being miserable. Any advice welcome.

Winters have been for the most part not too bad. We are a Winter rainfall city, so we do get cold and wet days. But unless you go inland, it doesn't get bitterly cold. We do have some really nice sunny (but still chilly) days in Winter, so hopefully you get lucky when you are here.

Temperature is subjective though. Check the forecast before you come down and pack accordingly and you should be fine.

Winter in CT can be split roughly into thirds:
1. Miserable cold, wet and windy.
2. Clear, calm and sunny.
3. In between days.
Unfortunately it is impossible to predict conditions far in advance, but cold fronts tend to come in 5-7 day patterns. If you stay for a week you may get lucky, or may get a series of miserable days.
P.S. If you drive 150km north/east, you can escape most of the bad weather (Little Karoo, etc).
