The Cape Metro dams are already OK. More worried about the interior, and E-Cape areas. SA will always be in drought sonewhere...
Dams in Port Elizabeth are below 12%. And dropping rapidly. Areas in PLZ should start running dry in July.

As I arrived at work this morning there was a faint drizzle for a few seconds. Wonder when we're having rain again, it has been a very dry month of June so far
And higher than usual daytime temps for extended periods (today being an exception).

No doubt the heavy rain spells will come, but what about the days of continual downpours of yesteryear.... those definitely have been very rare unless my memory is failing me.

Mostly always rare I suspect. Or it was multiple days of light rain.

Higher than average temperatures? Perhaps. But not the highest they've ever been in June in Cape Town.

Same heat on Sunday, with berg winds ahead of a cold-front on Monday night. Next week will definitely be cooler, and mostly wet.
You reckon theres 2 cold fronts moving in?
I see rain forecast for tomorrow and then clear following day and then rain again friday

3, if the models hold true.. following on each other until about Wednesday next week.. probably not too much rain for Cape Town itself..

The models are quite fickle (as usual), particularly for the longer durations:
The first front (Mon/Tues/Wed) is quite broad and long lasting, but will have moderate effects on land.
The second front on Friday will be more compact and powerful, and bring strong winds and very cold conditions (snow is possible over the mountains).
A third front is possible next week, but conditions generally look drier following that. We may be heading for a below average rainfall season.

Im just glad our major dams are sitting at almost 20% higher now today than a year ago

I hope we don't have a 'dry' winter

The dams for the Cape Metro are the highest they have been since 2014/15. See: https://resource.capetown.gov.za/do...ity research reports and review/damlevels.pdf
I am not worried about municipal water supplies for CT, but non-irrigated farms (Swartland wheat), and other regions dams are a major concern.

After a long day of strong winds, and slowly decreasing temperatures, it finally started raining in Kenilworth just after 10:30pm.

Edit: Steady rain overnight, 20mm in gauge this morning. Temporarily dry now.
