Holy Moly
Just saw a video of Woodhead Dam overflowing pretty badly
Onto the Orangekloof private hiking trail
I do it often and have never seen water coming out on the side of the dam
It's hectic up there

Good news, the road has just reopened there by our substation a minute ago

My yard looking like a mirror already.. loving the rain though. But my batteries not gonna last with this outage.. they’ve been going 12 hours now, nursing them overnight

Tell me about it.

I'm on 17% and not going to make it through the night. View attachment 1541135

I wasn’t expecting us to be down this long, so was pulling around 400w Most of the morning.. currently sitting just under 200w, and should be around 100w from 21:00 when kiddos are asleep

Currently on 29%

I lowered my usage to
Almost 23hours without power due to the substation issue in Somerset. I have about 4-5hours left before inverter shutsdown when battery is at 10%
I made it to 4am. All other home with backup here by me also did not make it through the night.

I'll see what time it restarts. I should still be getting some sun to give it enough charge to restart.

We had 'only' 27mm in our gauge in Kenilworth, but everything is so wet, and the lawn is more squishy than yesterday. The temperature is surprisingly mild at 17C. Not a typical cold-front, more an area of moist and unstable air.

Further heavy rain is predicted for the early morning of Sat 17th, and later on Sun 18th into Mon 19th. Thereafter it may be dry for a few days, until the next onslaught...
