Just saw a video of Woodhead Dam overflowing pretty badly
Onto the Orangekloof private hiking trail
I do it often and have never seen water coming out on the side of the dam
It's hectic up there

Reservoir is the correct term, and you're thinking of De Villiers Reservoir which is the one above Constantia Nek.
