Rain and storm for Cpt

Yesterday I emptied our pool by about 10cm, and this morning the same.

And it looks like the same for tomorrow morning as well.

It is chucking it down in Stellies right now. Hell, the DSC in my RRS kicked in a couple of times while driving to the Square just now!

The SAEON Dwarsberg station recorded another 77mm yesterday (Wed 5th). Together with the massive amount on Tuesday, this has started to produce significant runoff, particularly into the Berg River dam. Inflows reached 40m^3/sec, the level rose 4% yesterday, and stands close to 77% this morning.

The SAEON Dwarsberg mountain catchment station recorded another 64mm yesterday (Thurs 6th), bringing the cumulative total for the week to over 350mm!

Inflows into the Berg River dam have subsided this morning, but the level has increased by 10% this week, and currently stands at over 80% (still rising somewhat). Theewaterskloof fills up much more slowly, and is currently around 57.5%.

The CoCT dam levels have still not updated...

Next week looks much drier, and there is no significant rain in the forecast.
 
After a few days of sunny and mild weather, cooler and cloudy conditions have returned, with a moderate intensity cold front passing over CT last night. The SAWS reports some significant rainfall near the mountains, but much less elsewhere, during the 24 hours to 8am on Wed 12th: https://www.weathersa.co.za/images/data/climate/nr_daily_rai.pdf
Highest include Villiersdorp 27mm, Franschhoek 23mm, Ceres 20mm, Grabouw 10mm, etc.

This limited rain will have negligible effect on dam levels. No significant rain is expected in the next week.

There was a significant amount of orographic rain from last night's cold front, but much less away from the mountains. Our gauge in Kenilworth recorded 25mm up to 8pm, and SAEON Dwarsberg recorded 80mm up to midnight.

Runoff into the Berg River dam briefly reached 30m^3/sec, but this was not sustained, and the level only rose 1% overnight (currently at 83%).

Highest include Paarl 34mm, Kirstenbosch 28mm, Elim 25mm, Jonkershoek 24mm, Hermanus 15mm, etc.

It should be mostly dry for the next 48 hours, with another cold front due on Fri 21st. The following week looks dry, with isolated cold fronts mostly missing landfall.
