Rain and storm for Cpt

So this was the closest to a cape winter storm as most of us remember. The next one will move in round about late Tuesday/Wednesday.
At least this past Storm did move over the catchment areas of the major dams. Should have more run off into the dams.

So the problem is I should come down on holiday more often in winter

Even the one in June was way more 'eventful'.

A Cape winter storm would last a few days with flooding and continuous rain.

When was the last time, that we had such storms? I really can't remember.

It was a yearly occurrence to see the R27 flooded with municipal trucks pumping water off Otto Du Plessis, between Table View and Milnerton. The flei would be flooded almost every year up until 2014/5. Hasn't happened since.

Went to MLK and Blouberg yesterday. The Vlei is exceptionally low. Do not remember seeing it that low before.
The two old farm dams close to my Mom's place are very low. Along Chappies today and above Simon's town, there are quite a few streams running today. It rained in Franschhoek today as well. Still pretty overcast just about everywhere.
 
And Spring has arrived earlier than usual I note the new vines coming out and
The tuberoses for sale at intersections., that means pretty much no more winter storms
Til next May unless we luck out and get late rains but once the South Easter starts pumping to warm things up
It's all over folks.

Get over your tornado, hurricane omg the mountain is going to blow away bs.

Some good rain had no doubt.

The rain is almost over for Cape winter 2017, but we are likely to get at least one more countrywide cold snap next week (Wed 16th and Thurs 17th).

Blouberg today was very cold in the morning with the South Easter blowing very little cloud on the horizon.

There is another front coming in that should get here by Tuesday and possibly hang around for Wednesday before moving Eastwards. Low rain for CT. <1mm predicted for Alexander Bay. So maybe this time Morty will get some?

It would be very interesting to hear from Morty if the weather reached Oranjemond in the early hours of this morning.
We had lots of rain overnight in Brackenfell.
 
So that is it for the rest of this week. Next weather system of note will only show up next week Tuesday at the earliest.

I awoke to the sounds of the English HO explaining to last born Moose what all the wet stuff was outside... So in reply to your question, yep! we got wet for an hours around three this morning as the tail end of the cold front whipped past us, some 600km direct North of CPT!

Glad to hear you got rain. We may finally get some. Down to the old Transkei towns .. well most are without water already.
