In normal circumstances, this hot weather would be really great. However, we really do need more rain desperately

A rather weak front follows the hot weather expected for Monday and Tuesday. Today was our braai day in Brackenfell. Beautiful weather!
I will be on the long road back to PTA on Friday. Stopping off in the Karoo for maybe the weekend.

If there is a gusty berg wind, then a braai might not be such a good idea! Cape Town normally has a fire season in summer, but this year there have been runaway fires in every month.
A slightly stronger cold-front is possible on Thurs 7th, but rainfall is still uncertain...

No longer in CT so do not know if the cloud cover yesterday and last night delivered any meaningful rain?
I see the dams showed more than a 2% increase in level last week. Still extremely low levels though.

Just a thick layer of altocumulus this morning, minimal rain expected.
The dams that benefited most last week was the Berg River (up 4%) and to a lesser extent Theewaterskloof. Those drain from the Hottentots Holland mountains, which got a lot of orographic rain on Thurs 7th. In Kenilworth we got 80mm! Voelvlei got almost nothing.

On Saturday when we went over du Toit's Kloof pass, there were plenty of waterfalls to be seen. The river was running quite strongly. Some snow was still to be seen on the Matroosberg as well. The Karoo south and north of BFW is in very bad shape.
So which thread is dealing with who is to blame for the water restrictions?
We kept well below the 87 litre per day per person limit while in CT. The average usage at my moms place for 5 people was 67 litres per day per person.
But quite a schlep. The shower bucket patrol is pretty difficult to handle and out of the question for my mom.

Ja sure windy.com shows a bit of rain but at really insignificant levels. Less than 2mm is not what I normally consider as rain. Sure it wets the roads and gardens but it does very little in terms of run off to fill dams.
