Rain and storm for Cpt

Cape Town colleague not even in yet. Normally he's at the office at 7, maybe 7:30 at latest.

Rain must be hectic down there.
 
Hmmm, SAEON Dwarsberg gauge is not updating (since midnight), but it is raining now. That can only mean it is frozen with snow!?

Many people will be driving out to Ceres/Matroosberg. Watch out for traffic...

Edit: Light snow visible on Table Mt! (Looking from Kenilworth through binoculars).

My sister sent me messages at 01:30, saying plenty rain and some thunder and lightning in Brakenfell area.

Pfft, I checked the N1 via Maps and saw just one dark red line on the N1! I don't have any early meetings so will leave home at 9
 
You should be able to get better shots of it from your side of town, especially of Simonsberg. The waterfalls on Stellenbosch berg looks very good, looking forward to riding the MTB there tomorrow after work.

Hi to all those that responded to my request for info on this routing issue to the SAEON site.


preliminary investigations have shown up a rather complex routing fault, so a formal fault has been logged and is under investigation. Thanks to all those that provided me with info over the weekend.
 
The SAWS rainfall figures for the 24 hours to 8am on Mon 2nd show some quite impressive numbers (excluding the mountain catchments). See: http://www.weathersa.co.za/media/data/climate/nr_daily_rai.pdf

Highest include Grabouw 65mm, Kirstenbosch 53mm, Jonkershoek 52mm, Strand 41mm, Ceres 37mm, Worcester 36mm, etc. Further heavy rain fell after 8am. Of particular note was Nieuwoudtville (NC) 54mm!

Many places received average and above average rainfall (excluding the deluge that fell on Sun 1st).
 
Quite funny watching people in the parking lot while this tiny hail is coming down. I managed to get one co-worker blow coffee over their keyboard when I said "it's hail, but tiny hail, about the size of my penis". They did not see that one coming.
 
And then the sun comes out a few minutes later. We really got a lot of water today.
